Hey guys, just bought a Stilo 1.6, and decided to clean up the engine bay; I didnt jet wash it, just used some degreaser and a bucket of water, but I must admit water did get on some electrics and fusebox, not excessively mind. I refitted the battery and the fan kicked in, won't stop at all. There is an engine fault light on the dash, and the only way I can switch off the fan is to stop the engine and remove the fuse from the box- its been five hours since i tried to dry the engine bay out, and I removed all the fuses to get air into the fusebox- but still no joy- anyone have any ideas? Any help would be great!

Remove all fuses. Dry fusebox with hairdryer. NOT a hot air gun, it'll melt it.
Next locate the fan connector and dry this the same way.
On the rad there may be a fan switch, do this too.
Temp sensor on head would be a good idea too.

Water is in a connector, making a short. Once dry, all should be well. Small amount of WD40 may help, but don't drown it. May need to mop up with lots of kitchen roll.

Excellent thanks; took all the fuses out overnight, replaced them this morning and it seems to be fine now- any idea to reset the engine fault light? Thanks! :)

a basic fault code reader should clear the code have done for me in past though use multiscan software now many threads on that software and cables required but if you have family in garage business they should be able to help ok with equipment to plug in and clear code for you..
oh notice from your other post you do not have fuseboard/battery cover if you do not have one and intend keeping car worth tracking one down , breakers is cheaper option there as is none area for water from rain causing electric problems..have left mine off in past and rain caused problem with fan constantly on even with ignition off but dried out fuseboard like yourself and all ok, but never leave fuse/battery cover off

Hey yeah sorry, I've got both engine and fusebox covers, just had them off for the photo- the fusebox cover obviously has to stay on, but is it detrimental to keep the engine cover removed? Not sure if I prefer it with the cover on or off
