Hi guys,

Tomorrow looking at a 51 Plate (2001) Bravo HLX. Just wondered if it should have a red key as i've been told from W reg (2000) onwards they didnt come with them.

Thanks,
Matt

I have bravo 2001 and it came with the red key.

Have the car over a year now and never needed the red key.

So if the key has a 2 on the metal part it doesnt have one and if it doesnt have a 2 then it should?

All Bravo's came with Red Keys. No matter what year. My JTD is a 2001 and comes with Red Key.

all bravos should come with a red key, if not and they expensive to replace or buy.

i've had three bravos, i will not buy one without a red key! never needed one up until last week when i had a code problem and i'm damn sure glad i had it!

If it has a "2" on key then it definitely does not have red key. If it has a symbol with two part circles and a point only then it should have a red key also. Later Fiats, and most mdern cars will have the rolling code key system. If you ask at dealers, they can check to see if they hold the password data for the later keys.

A "2" on the key means it is CODE ver 2 and no red key is supplied.
No number means CODE ver 1 and a red key is needed to program new blue keys into the system.

This has been discussed in the past and there was no definitive answer as to whether CODE 2 was ever fitted to the bravo. It was certainly in existance towards the end of Bravo production and I was told by a Fiat dealer that later ones did have it, but no-one on this forum has ever said they have a CODE 2, but then that is a relatively small sample of Bravos.

Does anyone with a later Bravo have the number 2 stamped in the metal of the key? (and doesn't have a red key?)

Yes it will be interesting to see when the CODE2 started. Incidentally I am at present working on code retrieval for the red key. Can get immobiliser code ok just a tad stuck on coverting it to key data. If an when its resolved then red key replacement will be as easy as it is with the Punto.

red key

I have a 51 bravo sx80 (nov) I was told by the codeman of sheffield that my bravo did not need a red key. I had a spare key made frome the one key i had .blue. I use this all the time

Sounds like your key has been cloned then, which makes it more likely its a CODE 1 (fixed code).
Does your original blue key have a "2" stamped in the metal bit, or just a funny symbol. If there is no number 2 then it is a CODE 1 and you should have a red key.
