Question about speed cameras

I was right - got the speeding fine today - 52km/hr in a 40km/hr zone. Good news is, it wasn't as bad as I thought because I was doing almost 80km/hr, which meant almost a AUD600 fine and three months suspension. All I'm getting is a slap on the wrist of AUD77 and three demerit points.

I've never been so happy getting a fine!!

Thats gotta annoy the hell out of you, you pay your taxes, and then they want more!!

Actually I was ecstatic to see the fine being so minor - would you rather AUD77 + 3 demerit points, or AUD580 + 3 months suspension? :devil:

Now I can look forward to going home each night again!

Well with my P plate, I wouldnt be given a choice, plus, my car would be impounded for 48hrs with about $1500 required to recover it from the impound, which I hate to admit it, wouldnt be worth it for an X in the condition mine is in.


BTW, $77 for a fine? Thats amazing! I need to move back to New South.

Yeh I wouldn't do anything stupid until you're off the P. One year I got caught speeding on the first day of the year - double demerit points - 3 month suspension. And then there was the other time where I got caught speeding on my L two days before the practical test - and for some reason they still let me take the test!

Most Flash Ones In Patrol Cars Dont But They Have To Come And Pull You Over They Cannot Send Them Through The Post It Doesnt Save Only Shows Speed I Think Ya Should Be Alright Unless Specs Cameera Got Ya

Yeh it was a hidden standstill speed camera - I don't think I'll contest it in court as it'll be a waste of time/money + I'll probably lose anyway, so I'll just shut up and pay up
