@nigelr32 - I know I asked about warranty when i was down. Just wondering, what do i fill in on the warrenty registration card? I don't have any receipt you see. Are Quaife aware?

Cheers,

Kristian
Hey Nigel -

Maybe it could be handy to post the info on this so that we all know?

Have just posted a cheque of £460 final payment for the diff & the delivery I'm afraid I can't make it to collect the Diff & have only just been able to get to a PC.

I diddn't have your number to contact you.

Picked mine up yesterday, cheers Nigel! That Panda you're building is gonna be an awesome machine, very much looking forward to competing against it in september (y)

Thanks for the contact Smiler.

I must remember to call Quaife about the warranty issue. I guess you could put my name down, but I'll check first.

That be excellent. I need to send in the warranty card shortly. I dropped my diff and spare gearbox to J333VO's mate Jon today. He said it should all be bolted together by Tuesday. With any luck I can then get that swapped into the 500 next week and report back on the results.

I think Jon (Emmas dad) may be giving you a call tonight to say its done already as he had most of today free.

Sorry we missed you when you dropped off the gearbox as we had popped down to Milton Keynes.

Aaron.

Hello guys, very interesting thread you have here. Guess I'm too late to get one :p

Just for your infos I think only the later models of cars will have the bolted crownwheels, most cinqs, seis and puntos will probably have shrink fit ones. C.514.5.13 and C.514.5.10 both used the shrink fit to begin with:

I've recieved one PM telling me that the Crownwheel cannot be seperated from the diff onCinq's. that can't be right..surely?? I've never seen a diff where the crownwheel is integral.

Here is a pic of the screw someone was asking about a while back when they couldn't see one:

As far as i know, all the 6 speed boxes are bolted crownwheel??

You can't go by Gearbox casing number on this one, as one casing will be used for many different variants, according to Eper. I even found that one of Craigs numbers came up on Eper as non-existent??? Work that one out??? I took the number from his photo!!

The only way to find out is to look.

Here's the original 6 speed, later ones could be bolted of course:

Cheers

Dan

This is from a 500 abarth. About £100 for the ring gear. NO idea if the number of teeth, the bolt pattern or anything else matches up.
Part Number 55183775

Many thanks to Jon, the quaife is now one with the gearbox. The 500 goes in tomorrow for the gearbox to be installed. Which means that after work I'll be able to report what it's like to drive with one of these.

If anyone is at the Ace Cafe tomorrow they're welcome to come for a spin and try it out.

:D

IMPORTANT NEWS!!!!

I have spoken to Matt Simmons at Quaife, who I dealt with for this contract.

He has said that if you fill out your lifetme warranty forms, and where it asks for a reciept and place of purchase, put "July 2009, Ref :- Matt Simmons / Nigel Frampton". This will validate your warranty.

Send the card off to Quaife as normal....They're waitnig for them!!

Craig, if you dont want your diff, let me know. I organised this group buy, and laid out a huge stack of cash off my own back, and didn't expect any hassle in getting my money back..............................

FANSTASTIC news Nigel (y) :slayer:

It looks so well made, that I'm sure it will outlast the car, but having the warranty is just a nice piece of mind.

Thanks again for organising any getting everything done. I know it's been a lot of work on your behalf and its very musch appreciated :)

Apologies to anyone who wanted to see the/drive the beast with the diff in place tonight at the Ace. Just popped round to the garage to see the progress. Clutch bearing fail. New one on it's way but it won't be here until tomorrow. No Ace cafe for me tonight. Poo.

Still trying to know how much pre-load etc.

I emailed quafie

We would not have that sort of information we built the ATB to a sample the fit is as standard I suggest you talk to a friendly Fiat dealer to see if you can get the information, we would normally say about .006-.008 thou measured in three places will always work with the back lash.
Len

Kind regards

Len Unwin

No direct numbers on preload and backlash.

I have also tried fiat power train, but they never replied.

I will have to try my local friendly fiat dealership, but i can only guess they go off similar manuals to the ones I have.

Looks like i may be guessing, and hoping it all works lol.

Off to fiat to order all new parts apart from the shims, and then take it from there.

No rush for me though, my car will be off the road for weeks anyway.
