Dear forum,

Just to get more acquainted with my car I bought a Haynes owners workshop manual and watched some clips on Youtube how to do maintenance myself. In this search for clips I came across topics like EGR valves, Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valves and EVAP purge valves.
Searching through the forum I found out that my 188A4000 engine (Octobre 2009) should not have an EGR valve. In the Haynes manual there is no mention of this kind of valve for petrol engines, but for some reason when looking for parts with my licenseplate specified I can buy an EGR valve for my car (see image below and sorry for the Dutch language)?

Another valve, that PCV valve I think is absent on this 188A4000 engine? I only see a small section "Crankcase emission control" in the Haynes manual regarding checking hoses periodically and that's all. But I do see mentioned Evaporative emission control and purge valve. I do understand that this has something to do with gasoline vapor, so a purge valve is not the same as an PCV valve I suppose or does it due to the fact that I also can buy a PCV valve for my car on carparts websites?

And then I see this little pipe on the hose which connects the airfilterbox with the throttle body. What is the purpose for the hose connected to this little pipe (see image)? Is this some sort of EGR or PCV or is this a part of the Evaporative emission control or for something totally different?

Thanks in advance for your explanation, hopefully I do not ask too much and kind regards,

Aad

On the 1.2

PCV = none
EGR = none
Evap solenoid = present

Blow by gasses are feed back into the engine and are burnt off

They are either feed back above or below the throttle butterfly plate and this controlled automatically via vacuum assuming the pipes and gaskets are working

The S shape hose that connects to the stub shown in Post #1 quickly goes hard.
I believe this is the correct page on ePER. https://eper.fiatforum.com/en/Drawings/Detail/F/F/GIN/2Q/102/23/0/0/SubSubGroup
Check for yourself, but I believe this is the one -
