Pure overload in y13 then! Ouch!
Did the same as you for A/s, score s1 83 (how i did that badly i don't know, was on for more but hated it), m1 97 very pleased obviously and p1 91, pleased again. This year we do P2, P3, S2, done S2, got 95 in Jan. So need 57/57 in P2/P3 to get an A. Was doing further maths A/S, P4, D1 (a joke of a module!) and M2. Found it wasn't helping me and stopped. Probably a bad long term decision but it's made me less stressed.
I am exacrtly the same, for me, I probably do as much work per module in maths as I do for my other A levels combined. With further maths included I felt I was doing 7 A levels! I am not a natural mathematician but a slogger and this made P4 difficult. P4 is a massive step up from P3 in terms of the natural ability you need to have and that little sparkle. I don't have those to a high level.
Sounds like your school gave your a hard time doing those modules, it's probably because they don't have good Stats teachers. The two that do stats 2 in my school are excellent, IMO (even though I hate mine), if all they did was teach S2 they are worth it. Out of my class of 15, 14 got As (80+) in S2 and one high B. How annoyed she was about that B i don't think she will ever say.
When you say the tower at L'borough do you mean whitworth tower? ( i think that is the name of the place i am thinking of). I stayed just close to there in (i think) Faraday Hall in one of those terrace style halls of residence. The worst thing I remember was how dreadful the food was IMO, comparing it with St. Andrews Uni where I also did a residential trip and UMIST where I had lunch I was horrified! Loved the campus in some ways but knew I would probably hate living in it for too long. Not putitng you down however, what suits me might not suit you obviously.
Oxford was a grand place and St. Johns (my first choice college) was amazing, richest of the lot and had amazing new beautifully made buildings. I arrived late in the evening however and got thrown in a scabby little room that looked unused for 30 years and forgotten about in a late December evening. I hate that whole interview section there.
Glad it's not just me with reservations about Uni, my friends don't tlak to me about it much, just like to show off about how cool it will be when they can get "plastered" and no one will care.
I hate the way Uni's state higher grades as a typical offer and then say it's ok for practically anything. It is unfair on the person who with CCC instead of BBB decided that course was too hard for them even though most of the intake had CCC. I spoke to the UCAS admin lady at York and she said all uni's state higher grades to make their courses look better and hence why they do it.
What's essex like, I have a friend who has it as his second choice behind Warwick (i think)?
Enough talking, I should be getting some sleep.
