Technical Punto - red circular dashboard light, what does it mean?? help!

I recently had a new alternator fitted on my M reg Fiat Punto.

When I got it back from the garage I noticed that there was a RED circular light lit up on the dashboard

Its located on the left hand side of the dashboard next to the white petrol pump sign and its the same shape and size as the amber "low petrol" light.

I don't have a manual for my car so does anyone know what this light means, or why it is lit up?

I'm not 100% sure but i think its a warning light for when coolant temperature is too high



EDIT: Reason im not sure is ... Do you have a temp gauge or not???

garage could have knocked off or broke the wire, its above the alternator.
it goes to a sensor in the back of the head.

yep that is the coolant temp light and it means ur engine is too hot so you need to fix it. try filling the coolant up
