Do you know what size SMD LEDs you need for this?

Yeas, you need 3528 type SMD LED s as follows:
4 - needles;
4 - BC display;
8 - gauge display;
Tacho_kplt2.jpg

You can also replace the center console lighting with SMD LED s. You need 6 LEDs.

Hello!
I did this but I've encountered a problem: the temperature light and the fuel light won't work. As you can see in the picture above the LEDs have a resistance parallel and I think that's the reason they won't light up. Please if you can help me with an alternative place to supply power for the two LEDs.
I hope someone will give me a hint because I'm a little disappointed in me. :D

Thanks,
George

Sorry mate, it seems you've tried to start the car with the dials off.

Changing speedo?

I was just wondered, i have a punto with the standard dash in, no rev counter on it, is it possible for me to get the updated dash with rev counter on it and fit it straight in my car no problem?

Cheers

Matt

I brought my smd's from a german company, they included the correct resistors too. It was years ago but if you don't get the right smd's or the right rating of resistor to run them they blow.

I have just finished doing my dash and have come across the same problem, the back lights for the temperature gauge and fuel gauge did not work with the new blue lights. I did not follow the guide posted at the beggining of this thread, rather opted for removal of the entire circuit board and replace everything at once, all the dials work. Oh and also it can be done without a full tank of fuel, heres how: remove all the dash bits until you can touch the needles, dont yet however, then turn the igniton on and mark the postion of the fuel gauge, turn igniton off and remove ciruit board and needle as described it the guide. when putting the dash back into the car leave the needles off, turn the igniton on then align the fuel needle to the mark made previously, align the speedo needle to zero and the temperature needle to cold. turn off ignition and align the rev needle to zero.
i have now got around the problem of the back lights by wiring the lights into other back lights, the temperature back light i wired into the rev back lights and the fuel backlight into the speedo. alternatively you could get a new resistor as i believe this is the issue

Me and my dad attempted this and it all went well brought the SMD's and a Draper Soldering Iron because you need a low wattage soldering iron with a good tip, preferably a 20 Watt me and my dad used a 25 watt, but that's good enough I suppose. Luckily my dad has some Soldering skills, but would recommend practising before doing this modification that's for sure.

The SMD's are very sensitive and do require careful handling. So some good tweezers, soldering iron, steady hand and patience, will help you.

The only thing that was a problem was the Air Bag light come on when I connected the Dashboard back together, but 'a' it only costs £7.99 to have it reset or I've heard the alternative way of getting the light off is by unplugging your battery for half hour and it resets everything.

Here's what mine looks like now:

Basically you've got to get those blue thumbtack bulbs (cant remember what there called but halfords sell them) & you need to take the center console out then take the plastic inserts out what show the heater temperature, fan speed ect... then you will see a orange filter on the back of them & use a cotton bud and nail varnish remover to take it off, then put back together and put the new bulbs in.
