hey all, iv got a sporting which iv had for 3 years and done some nice mods to it, while owning the sporting a had a gt1 fora few months which was a fast car with a stage 2 technics turbo, uprated waste gate, big intercooler, walbro fuel pump and a chip. now iv sold that im back to the sporting and want a fast car again

so iv decided to put a gt engine in my sporting, was going to go for a 1.8hgt engine but it seemed to tricky to get that in without serious modification.

has anyone got any tips or problems i might run into fitted the gt lump?

sporting currently has gt brakes all round, polly bushed. and lowwered 60mm just on springs.

Howdy!

If it were me doing that engine conversion on a Punto, id get a 1.4 16v from a Stilo/Grande Punto/Idea etc and working from there with low comp forged pistons and rods, stage one head, this would be a much more reliable engine then the 1.4 8v. I plan to do this conversion this year and hope to acheive around 220bhp(y)

Also worth considering the 6 speed box from a mk 2 Punto, ive had a mk 1 and mk 2, the mk 2 ratios are much closer then the mk 1 giving much better fun in the mid range

p.s. thats a well modded car you got there, I realy like the square plates!!

...and it prolly screams its tits off on the motorway. the ratios in the sporting are short enough, any closer and you'd spend more time changing gear than actually going anywhere...
