When I were a lad specials were the thing to build. Basically cars made from bits and pieces, open bodied, quick and lots of fun.
A recent intimate exchange with a punto 16v engine impressed me with its basic build so here's a question.

Has anyone reading ever managed to change the basic 16v engine back to a non ECU controlled, running on carbs machine? I've sketched out the idea of turning the block to North /south, mating it to a conventional g/box and have it drive a rear axle. That's a lot of work but in principle what'd ya think?

Without wishing to offend....

Why? It would be worthless & un-insurable for the road... maybe as a fun project for some other reason?

Good Luck to you & all that but RWD is so 70's...

Your're probably correct. The transverse engine/gb combo ruins the line of the bonnet planned hence the inline rwd.
Anyhow a big job. Probably just a dream. It isn't 70's its pure blooded 60's!

Cheers

I am not sure if meant put into a punto.. maybe just a project kit car or turbular frame car :D: D:D ..

Im not clued up in Fiat as its my first Fiat ownership for 3 days lol... but I think you probably will require a bit of machining and design going to get that to mount, and hook up with prop shaft. Then again why do you want to run Carbs?

RWD is not just 60's and 70's had a R32 Skyline GTS-t thats late 80's mine was early 90's... then even now RWD 350/ 370Z ;) RWD is fun... and have to learn to drive the thing lol
