hi guys.im new to all things fiat and have recently purchased a cheap 54 reg fiat punto sporting (cheap because the gearbox and clutch seem to have had better days) i would like to know what other year punto gearboxes would fit?.my mate said his had a 55 reg placed into a 52 reg.ive seen a 51 reg breaking and wondered if the standard 51 reg would fit a 54 reg sporting? many thanks in advance...dave.:slayer:

6-speeder..??
I believe all the 6's are interchangeable - same as the 5's are.
best to ask in the Punto 2 section,
lots of punto people on there will have do these swaps,

the mk2 99-03 and mk2b 03-06 boxes are interchangeable
The 1.2 8v didn't change that affected the underside
Just remember treat the boxes with care - they aren't the best boxes around
The 6speed suffers with the same input bearing+seal issue, the usual wear and tare on the syncro's with age and diff seals leaking / popping etc as its the same box just different gear ratio's
