Hi
I'm new to the forum, so ...Hi!!!!
I have a problem wit my son's 2011 fiat punto evo. I have these faults coming on ,and the more I read, the worse it gets. First I taught it may be the ecu, but after 2 hours on Google, I'm all confused...car was running good, but I had to ceck oil feed to valve tappetsas they were noisy. So, the engineering shop that done my cylinder head came out, crank over the engine with rocker cover off, but ecu still connected. After all that, I put the rocker cover back on, start up the engine, and I have no throttle response... engine starts, idling kind of ok, but that's it. Any help much appreciated

Model
Punto evo
Year
2011
Mileage
135000

So you're "new to the forum". Which is an excuse for what? Not using Internet properly? OK...
WHEN will people learn to give all basic information upfront? Like, engine type, version?

Beside fault codes your post contains no information. "Evo year 2011" means nothing. Doesn't help.
At least, recent work (head off) done to the car is a hint.

You've wasted "2 hours on Google" and it never occurred to you, that this type of problems are electrical in nature?
Your "engineers" probably damaged something (wiring) during the job. Plus, they started the engine without camshaft cover(?).

Depending on the engine type, there is a ground wire to the cover. And the ignition coil module is mounted there. Go figure...
They "fried" the ECU probably (some inputs). Or there is problem (like corrosion) somewhere else in the wiring or fuse/relay box.

You always start with power delivery (battery, alternator, main ground/earth). If you own Evo/2012, Google things with GRANDE keyword.
Evo/2012 is a LIFTING only, your car is still a Grande (and the majority of the internet content will be related to Grande).
Grande FAQ (check "Electrical gremlin thread"): https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/grande-punto-faqs.424410/
If this doesn't help (electrical basics, power and communication lines are OK), you have a bad ECU most likely (unfortunately).
Obviously, you can inspect the throttle body: https://www.fiatforum.com/guides/throttle-body-disassembly-porting-testing-1-4-8v.723/
Some fault codes interpretations/names are mixed, so "throttle" code can be caused by...gas pedal (potentiometers). Check it too.

Im not familar with the throttle, but from what I see on my daugthers (EVO 1.4 Multiair) the throttle is some electric valve in the throttle body
(ie not old school cable or linkage)
So sounds like that might have got disturbed.

I might go and research how the throttle works on these, as its one of the first vehicles Ive had where there isnt a physical cable/linkage you operate while leaning over the engine :)
'Disassembly' link in the above post is good (and scary)

Hi there
Sorry for not giving more info. 1.2 petrol, 8 valve,

Hi there
Sorry for not being a bit more specific. It's a 1.2 petrol , 8 valve, 169A4.000. Got it sorted. I was right, they damaged the ecu by cranking the engine with rocker cover off I was getting 12 volt supply on some of the sensors, meant to be only 5 volt) I've got a virgin ecu, but wouldn't work, so I ended up getting another ecu cloned from mine. Now the car it's 100%

Oh , by the way, when I bought the car( before the trouble with cylinder and ecu) , it wouldn't rev up more then 2000 rpm. No fault codes, no nothing. Car was started and run great. Just wouldn't rev up. Fit a new crankshaft sensor and that solved the problem
