Hi All, im new to the forum but could do with some help.

I have a 1998 Punto 75SX, ive got a new engine ive dropped in from a Punto 60 but the inlet manifold doesnt line up with the cylinder head.

What parts do i need in order to get the engine working? is it just the following i need:

ECU with Key and sender
Engine bay wiring loom
Inlet manifold and throttle body

Will the 75 fuel pump be ok to leave in? will the fuel pressure be regulated accordingly?

Any help will be appreciated

thanks
Oli

If the Punto 75 head is OK, the easiest way (by a long, long, way) is just to pop that onto the P60 bottom end. That way you get the inlet to line up, the ECU works fine and you have a decent exhaust and a better cam.

I'm assuming you bought an SPI engine (Mk1). If you'd bought an MPI engine(Mk2), it'd all fit fine and work straight away.

Yep i got a SPI engine and dropped it in, i would rather keep the engine in tact as its guaranteed for all parts etc for 12 months so dont want to tamper with it, looking for another way around it.

Will it work changing, inlet and throttle body, ecu and engine bay wiring loom.

another question is the punto 55 ecu, loom and throttle body are they the same as a 60?

thanks
Oli

It'll work, but, to my mind, it's a damn silly way of doing it!

But, yes, the P55 and P60 stuff are interchangeable as is the Cinq Sporting and SPI Sei Sporting. You need the code box, too. If using 1108 ECU, consider getting a chip off gazzaman2k -- in fact, consider that anyway to avoid the immobiliser/code box issue.

Compression test the 60 engine. If all is ok, swap the cylinder head for the 75 and fit a new cam belt.

Yes, you lose the warranty but if the compression is ok and you make sure its got good oil there is very little to go wrong. This is also the least cost option.

Ive got the 60 engine in now, and all the parts i need, just put the new loom into the engine bay and about to connect up the inlet and throttle body.

Can anyone tell me which of the fuel lines needs to go where on the throttle body? is it feed to the back of the throttle body and return from the front? and do the 75 ones fit straight onto the spi throttle body or will i need different ones? as the ones from the 75 seem to bolt to the fuel rail and it looks like on the 60 throttle body its just push fit hose.

also will the pump pressure from the 75 regulate itselt on the 60 throttle body as there doesnt seem to be a pressure regulator as there is on the 75 fuel rail?

thanks
