Get a Bigger engine car Full stop

Wacking a bigger engine into a small one has quiet afew problems

Insurance - its going to cost more, its modified
DVLA - Must declaire the engien change
The suspension, the Standard suspension is setup for the Stock engine
Either get the Sporting Suspension if the 1.2 16v fitted

The Brakes - The same storey, you will have more weight to stop, so better brakes are needed, again the sporting Setup for the 1.2 16v
But if you fit a 2L or the 1.4 a HGT brake setup could be a better option

Again all this is then going to push the insurance up even more!
and dont think about not declairing it, if you have an accident and its because you couldnt stop becuase the brakes aren't upto the Job
You've got the insurance company "**** off" in poliet terms

See the Hayabusa thread. Something like that is worth doing and you dont have to go the whole hog with a mid engine. But whatever you do expect serious expense and ridiculous insurance costs.

Anything is possible, but is it worth the trouble and expense?

If you want a faster Punto Mk2, get yourself an HGT. It will almost certainly need cam belt, variator and probably the clutch as well so (unless its got a good history) add at least £800 to the purchase price to cover that little lot.
