Problems with browser crashing (IE specific probably)

Right, I have turned off looking at sigs in User CP for now!

And I have no intention of swapping browsers :)

EDIT - this is my first ever problem with IE, having used it for x amount of years! If I swapped at the first sign of a problem, I wouldn't own 2 FIATs ;)

Not the first mate. what do you think half the windows updates are to fix :)

Its just a truly crap browser. Loads of security holes. And a lot of webpages actually look better in other browsers since IE doesnt stick to standards the same. unfortunately a lot of stupid designers of sites use IE specific code which is just god awful to begin with anyways.

I run my monitor on a 1600*1200 res, never ever thought 'wow, this page is poorly designed, must be my browser'...

Anyway, no point harping on :)

Well i have seen some pages where only the text shows up on IE.

Put the same page into mozilla you get nice backdrops etc. Cause IE cant handle embedded PNG images and a few other bits and pieces.

But i use 1600x1200 as well Just rather have a more stable more secure browser that loads faster than IE uses less memory than IE and loads pages faster. And im already on a fast connection 2mbit at this house 8mbit at my other place and i can still see the difference in speeds.

And tabbed browsing just makes things so much easier. No having to have loads of windows open at the same time.

Wasnt a big fan of firefox when i changed myself but after using it for a shortwhile and the amount of plugins available for it just made it so much easier quicker and generally better to use.

well Security holes are exploted by smart people or willyheads anyways.

Even Firefox had a bad scare the other month and the only solution was to uninstall it untill they figured out what was wrong. Never had to do that with IE and just like everything else, because IE is the standard its normal that it will be targeted more by willy heads and normal that smart people will find holes to fix as its used more and more people care/are at risk.

I so very rarely have problems with all of My Computer Machine, I'm so safe I don't even use a Virus scanner.

I've even noticed that computers running virus scanners seem to run into more problems then those without.

Keep all your Microsoft stuff up to date and you should be fine, the problems start when third party software like Firefox blah blah are installed and share DLL's or replaces them for their own ones and then other programs sharing the original DLL try and use the Third party one and everythin' just starts Crashing.

Keep it neat and Tidy people :)

Are you on commision!?

Have you seen the advert where the bloke is offered two lightbulbs for exactly the same price. One is a normal bulb and the other is an extra long life bulb, and the guy chooses the normal one? ;)

Well, this is like that. You are choosing the normal bulb :p

Home PC? Now that's just asking for trouble.
I'd love to see your HiJackThis log file.

Nah im looking for a job in MAYA.

What i spend my spare time doing now. Trying to learn enough to get myself a good portfolio up and earn some decent money.

i just dont think people should use IE just because its there and a simple tool. When there are much better alternatives.

People wouldnt stick a 1.2 litre engine in there cars if they could run a 2.4 litre for the exact same costs would they? Same thing with firefox vs IE6. Theres a reason there bringing out IE7 with all the features firefox has.

I'm going to do my usual trick and remind people that there is an even more efficient and customisable browser than Firefox, Opera for those who like to control every bit of their browsing experience. It is much more in depth though and isn't for those who like to use things 'out of the box'.

Just to note I have never had any problems with Stus sig, it's within reasonable limits :p
