Who else is experiencing this? Think stu and I have worked out it is possibly his signature causing this since both threads i have experience it has his posting on and the second thread I noticed, he had only just posted on when it starting breaking.

So it's not your computer if it is crashing - i was worried mine was crashing and something might be up.

If you can say which threads it has crashed on for you, maybe it can be looked into more?

I don't think stu can post anymore due to this!

I hate everything but IE :p

I have turned signatures off for the time being and no problems, if it crashes for others write the thread here and turn off signatures, we should be able to work out the problem if it still exists :)

I have now tweaked my sig - I had copied part of it earlier from Joe's sig, then had a few problems :chin: - now redone it using a different forum code...

Well done paul, we now longer have to look at that 'orrible 5 door stilo... :p

I however doubt very much that stus sig is the single cause of the problem.

Well I thought it was me, went to tell Stu to moan about it and he said "been happening to me for an hour, since I changed my signature". Weird I thought, it just happened to me on a thread you just posted on, a minute before it suddenly started being a problem on that thread when it had been fine all morning. I always noticed the other thread with a problem he had posted on, possibly more. So quite a high chance, and no, I have no justification other than this since to me, I see no reason why it could cause that.

Well I've switched to IE to see if I can replicate the problem.

Stu, what did you change your sig to? Perhaps the image you're using is corrupt or has the JPG quality set too high for IE to deal with?

BB code shouldn't crash the browser really. unless it's creating bad HTML. cos the BB is in php, it's the server that's doin all the work. not the browser. so the browser just sees what the server tells it to see, in normal browser friendly html (unless you have some JavaScript in the sig)

I agree in getting firefox, it's awesome.

seraph, you can't use Javascript/flash/java etc... in the sig (as far as I know) because these can
a)lead to browser security issues
b)crash the browser
c)take a long time to download and
d)require as many plugins as there are sigs

I did run this through a compliency software yesterday and its not XHTML 1.1 complient... but that won't crash the browser...

UBB (BB code) Is interpereted by the forum software and changed to HTML server side, but bad HTML won't crash the browser, it'll only make the page display badly.

So, either the images being used are corrupt or are of the wrong format for IE to display or the server has seen that the request is comming from Internet Explorer X and attempting a buffer over run attack on Stus and Pauls computer... (fair enough, they can't be bothered to use Firefox, let em have the popups, page transitions, and dodgy javascript varient)

That would be the code then, anyone want to look at it...

Also, why don't you just get firefox?

Not the code, happend to me before you posted. and I looked at the code and nothing happend several times and hit refresh a couple times and nothing happened.

I don't like Third party software unless its exceptional and I personally think in most cases its hard to beat Microsoft. (I know we got a lot of MS haters out there, don't beat down on me)

Joe shut up about anything other than IE lol....:p

I have had signatures off for the last hour and not one problem.
