Hi,

I have a problem with the automatic wipers on my Abarth, if i start my car up with the wipers set to Auto and then i start driving and it starts to rain they do not come on automatically, however if i switch them to off and then back to automatic they work just fine.

Has anybody else had the problem or know of any fixes or what to check?

Thanks :)

Hi,

this is uncanny, i just came on to the forum to ask the same question. It only started yesterday as well! unfortunately i cannont help, i have not yet found the answer but thought i would let you know that you arent alone!:D

Totally normal (at least on a JTD)

You must activate auto mode with a quick flick down and then back up.

Wipers will normally stay in auto mode for the rest of the journey but during extended dry periods you may need to reactivate.

Totally agree. This is normal behavior. The auto mode has to be selected and won't activate automaticaly from engine startup if you leave it in auto. I think it's explained in the Stilo handbook but it's weird logic though. I think it should be like the lights... when you leave it in auto, it should come on automatically

I think it's purely a safety thing.

It they stayed in auto mode everytime the ignition was turned on then it's just posible they might might catch someone, say cleaning the windscreen, if it started to drizzle :chin:
