Hi to all
I have a 2000 jtd which is now struggling to start in the morning the best way to describe it is it's like a petrol engine that has run out of fuel and after refueling its trying to fire up, as it does this clouds of smoke come out of the exhaust.
Once started its fine feels a bit sluggish but restarts no problem and doesn't cut out.
Recently I changed the glow plugs as the light on the dash stayed on after starting, so I dont think it's this.
I have read a few posts regarding the rpm sensor, the egr and the maf but none of them have the trying to fire up and the clouds of smoke scenario
I hope someone has an idea what it could be

if your car is high mileage, then it could have low compression due to worn rings or valve guides, the best way to check this is a compression test on each cylinder.

Just thought I'd post this update FYI

Having worried that my problems starting my multi may be major I replaced the temp sensor which was not working so my fan stayed on and all the issues I posted earlier are gone.:D:D:D

Who would have thought that a little sensor switch would turn my multi into nightmare like that.

I hope this helps someone with similar problems.

Darren
