probably another petrol in a diesel thread

well my mrs did it, she put 5.75 litres of petrol in the Peugeot 306HDi, i brimmed it with 48.49 litres of diesel and that was on top of what was in there (i think its a 60+ litre tank)

it runs, and having never done this before do i need do anything else, apart from brim it again after about 70 miles?

Should of drained it out and just topped it up with diesel again......

cant give anymore advice than that as ours went to a mechanic when it happened...

hmmm.... bugger.

i thought it would be ok, at least its 58 litres of diesel to 6 litres of petrol, then keep brimming it every 70-100 miles (8 top ups- full tank gone through), all the time not thrashing it and keeping it slow, then go back to normal, and possibly do an oil change.

It started fine and drove for 5 mintues getting warm on the car park and then it did 6 miles to home and didnt miss a beat according to the mrs.

You probably know this, but if not... the common rail fuel pumps are made to very high tolerances and the slightly less lubricant fuel might wear it out over a period of time.
you might get away with it - some of the peugeot fuel pumps can take more abuse than others, and its not too high a concentration. As long as you keep brimming it you should be ok - at least, if it were me i would gamble on it

i was thinking of using it for work tomorrow to stick 70 miles on it in one day, as apposed to the 15 miles she'll do in it, to get it overwith quicky but dont fancy the hardshoulder if it ****s up

Should be fine in these cold temps. We used to put petrol in diesels deliberately to stop it waxing up when really cold.

Thats probably cold plugs, or a plug or two on the way out.

I think I have two weak plugs in the Landy.

Starts on 2 after six goes of the heaters, then the others chime in eventually.

White smoke at the exhaust is unburnt diesel.

I've done the same, around 4 litires worth, we got it drained etc, but its a motorbility car, so cant really take the risk, RAC bloke said we most like could have got away with it (80/90 litre tank).

I'd keep briming it every 40-50 miles max personally to get the petrol mix as dilouted as possible over the next 400 odd miles, but I do panic about things like that

i would just go with keeping it brimmed as well
