how much am i looking at for brake pads changed

i need to change my front and rear brake pads are they hard to do on my own and if i took them somewere how much will it cost to have them changed thanks

If you've not done the job before then you're better off just ringing around for a good quote. You don't need to go to a Fiat garage for this job so there's plenty of competition out there

If you really want to do it yourself then there's plenty of info if you use the Search tool

im located in Dagenham essex anyone no anywere they can refer me to would be great im poor so need best deal even if some one is willing to do a little private job and earn themselves a little extra ill drive to them

A small mechanic shop (est 15 years) round the corner from me near Stansted did my front discs and pads for £48 Inc VAT. I supplied the mintex squealy parts. I rekon he would probably do just the pads on all four corners for a similar price. I was quoted over £100 by another local.

Hello All.
Just called Kwik fit(i know i know....but it is just up the top of the road)...£150.00 to change me Front and Rear Brake Pads.
Its a 2002 Stlio 5d Hatch AC.
Is this good, bad, a rip off ?

I've used kwik-fit a few times, and for my brakes (on the punto) they were quite good, as they say you never have to buy the pads ever again (as in they'll replace them when they wear out) although if you want better pads, buy them off t'internet and fit em yourself - its fairly easy (Y)

thats a con as most people will only need 1 new set whilst they own the car.
and if you didnt keep it long enough they will probably try an say you need new disks next time

I got my brake pads from the same motor factor a fiat main dealer uses for pads and i did the front for £18 and rear for £19. Fronts have been done twice since i bought the car, roughly every 20k.

This was doing it myself.

I also did my mrs saxo for £16 when sh!troen wanted to charge her £175

If you are vaguely mechanically competent you can change your own discs and pads (on the front). My Mintex items were about £60 and the whole job takes an hour or two max.

If you were going to fork out £150 for Kwik FIt to do it then you could award yourself £45 per hour worth of beer tokens as a reward!

Just had the car serviced, front brake pads and disc's were a cautionary, asked the dealer to give me a price and forgot to mention bloody 'Fiat Care'. So obviously when he gave me a price of £300 I declined! When you compare £135 against £120 for the disc's and pads from Shop-4-Parts, it's going to be an extra £15 well spent.

Looks like I'm phoning a main deal near to me tomorrow.

...and typical! Phoned dealer (Mill Lane, Aldershot) and they can't offer the FiatCare price for changing the discs and pads, best they could offer was £293! :bang:

So, i either phone around looking for a local(ish) main dealer that'll do the job for the £135 or just go to Shop-4-parts and resign myself to and afternoon of getting greasy!
