Hi everyone..

Please could someone tell me where my power steering fluid bottle will be? I think it may need filling up..

I've looked everywhere under my bonnet for it and can't find it.. :bang:

Only found windscreen fluid bottle & some little tiny fluid box thing at the top (under my windscreen) like under what I think is my wiper motor?

I have not got a clue!!!

Please Help! :(

Thanks (y)

Ahh I thought it might be somethin like that...

Well I don't know what it is.. yeah the little red steering wheel light comes on... it might be a bigger problem than I first thought though?

When I start my car, I always go straight past ignition and just start the engine.. like put the key in and turn it all the way... but sometimes the little red steering wheel light comes on and my power steering doesnt work so I can't go anywhere until I turn engine off and restart then it's fine... It hardly happens, I'd say like once every 30 engine starts...

So I've tried turning my ignition on and leavin it until all my dashboard lights have gone off (includin the steerin wheel one) then tried to switch engine on from ignition, and sometimes it just won't turn any further (if i've turned ignition on before engine).

I think it may be a common fault from lookin at that link?

Please help!? Thanks (y)

1 in 30 start ups?
I'd Be possibly Looking more or less at a battery problem - which is known to cause a fault, and probably the cheapest thing to try
Again - does this Fault occour More on Cold Mornings or when the car has been stood for a few days?

You can drive the car without the powersteering - but you'd be surprised how heavy such a small car can feel
And God help you when you come to park at all, i've done it once or twice and its not very Nice

If you've got access to a multimeter test the voltage of the battery with the engine off.

Well I always use my car, the longest I don't use it is like a day. I drive to and from work monday to friday then just like to shops and seeing friends at night and weekends and stuff.. I only don't drive if I'm going out like 'out out' or having a drink...

I'd say its just like whenever it feels like it..

I've got a few friends that are mechanics so could ask one of those if they have a multimeter or whatever it was you suggested lol!

I might just take it to a garage or Fiat dealer, hopefully they'd have a quick look at it for free? my mum always says you can get anything for free when you smile nicely haha :)

Thanks again guys (y)

Oh I could not do that!! Never had a car without power steering! Haha :)
I'd be lost without it.. and I sometimes use my city button for parking so I definately couldn't park without it! haha :yuck:

You really don't want to be driving the mk2 with the power steering off, due to the castor settings and 2.7 turns lock-to-lock steering, it's very heavy. I had to park my girlfriend's car for her when hers failed. Non-assisted cars, such as the mk1 have a different castor setting and 4.0 turns lock-to-lock, giving the driver a mechanical advantage. Such a slow rack does lead to lots of wheel shuffling though. Felt like heaven driving a 1.7 turn lock-to-lock Ariel Atom in comparison.
