hi,

I have a bravo jtd 2001, the steering is noisier than usual when turning at low speeds, ive had a look at the engine and the power steering fluid is low and there appears to be a small leak. I kno im going to have to take it to a garage but want to kno wat its likely to be so i dont get charged too much. many thanks

id get some power steering fluid and top it up before it ends up empty..As for the pic,i cant seem to see the leak. But If thats where its leaking then ya best try get searching breakers for another.

the bit inside the red area is where there is oil, i cant see oil leaking but there is oil over that area so im assuming that it is leaking rather slowly. so what kind of repair would that need? a new part or is it possible to fix? many thanks

Its a rubber to metal joint - new part or someone that does hydraulic pipes. The reason it makes a lot of noise is the air that gets in the system.
Top the tank up with oil, turn the engine on and with the tank cap off, turn the wheels form left to right full lock a couple of times. It should temporarily sort the problem.

okay thanks sven ive topped it up and it seems to be okay atm. what is the part that needs replacing and what is involved in changing that?

many thanks

As Sven says.It looks like it is leaking from the place where the pipe is joined to the metal union and running down the whole length of the pipe. Try a scrappy for another

I have the same exact car and have exactly the same leak!! have tried some of the stop leak stuff they sell on ebay but i hasnt sealed it completely! Just keep topping it up now and again.

Let me know how you get on

Stu

ok ill let you kno, i topped mine up on saturday with some stuff from hallfrauds that supposedly stops leaks, It doesnt seem to have gone down as of yet

The pipe is high pressure pipe, so no leak stop tapes or plasters will seal it.
The best way is a new one, but if you have a shop-manufacturer of high pressure HYD pipes in the area, you can ask them to replace the rubber part.

Here is the ePer scheme
