Had a search and this not quite the same as other threads.
When turning the steering wheel anticlock it turns too easily and can even turn on its own with no input, and when turning clockwise it is much stiffer and makes a nasty grinding noise (whether stationary or moving).
If I disconnect the power lead from the 70Amp fuse the steering is OK, no funny noises and nice and even when turning either way - just needs Tarzan to help you with it, obviously.
So my suspicion is it's to do with whatever senses the demand for the power steering to operate. I presume there's some kind of torque sensing device involved.
Does anyone have experience of this issue? Know how it works? Can it be fixed? If not what has to be replaced? Do I need a mortgage for this?
Any help appreciated.
