Power Problem

Hi guys...

Booking the old HGT in for a diag test next week, due to when I floor it, the injector light comes on... Hopefully just the pedal setting needs resetting..

Now, another niggle I have, is a drop of power around 5k revs..

Up to that point it flies, but then the acceleration power drops off considerably... almost as if it's restricted in some way.

Never used to do that...

Any idea what could be causing this, as I'm gonna mention it when it goes in, but don't want them to tell me it could be something pricey, when it's not.....hopefully..

Any help would be great..

If it cant go over 5000 rpm, or you have to strain her to go over - then it sounds like the MAF sensor.

It does go over 5k but not as quick as it should...

MAF sensor.... pricey ?? location ?? easy to fix ??

Sounds like the old credit card is gonna have to come out of retirement....

On the inlet air pipe, just after the air filter, around 150, easy to replace - 2 jubilee clips

That's what I'm kinda hoping Tom..

I see there's a PDF repair guide to cleaning the MAF sensor... would this possibly help ?

Plus, the link doesn't work for me....so can't read it anyway...lol..

You can try to clean it, it will help if the isue is on the termo plates on the MAF, if it allready started to take efect on the electronics in it, then it wont work.

Once again cheers for the help guys...

Don't worry RR, Ebay will never get a sale from me for something like that...

Anyway, took the MAF sensor out earlier, and gave it a little clean up.. had a very minor bit of dust on it internals..

Stuck it back in and weeeeeeeeeeeee... full power back again...

Just need to get a diag on the pedal/injector fault done now..
