PLease please can someone help me:

I have a multipla 2002 1.9jtd diesel car
the problem is when i take off sometimes the power seems slow but if i push my foot down on accelerator all of a sudden it gets a power burst and loads of black smoke comes out of exhaust?

so to recap setting off hardly no power then all of a sudden power comes back and car shoots off with a trail of black smoke

could it be maf sensor ??

i have stripped egr and cleaned it all out so not that??

any help or ideas would be appreciated

I have exactly the same problem with my fiat ulysse 02 and when your at a junction can be quite worrying. Someone must know please help us...

can you blank permantley will it damage the engine??? i cleaned out egr few months back with carb cleaner maybe i have left some crap in????

The EGR seems to be the cause of more problems than it's worth and I have not heard of any damage caused by having it blanked off permanently. On some diesels it appears to be an essential to non-problematic running, particularly Land-Rovers.

Mine did the same, has done twice, Egr valve twice! The second time I made sure it was completely dry before putting it back! Even after cleaning the valve it was still sticking, using some wd40, it was still sticking. using the air line in the 4 small holes around the valve give it a good blow through, one of the small holes should make the valve blow in and out bit like a vacuum, so then you'l see it working properly.
