Pulled the cover off and used actuator function to check function, seems to be working fine, however there was a fair amount of oil in there as well!
If no obvious signs under bonnet, if possible squeeze the inlet hose after the turbo but before the inlet manifold and get someone to start engine and give it a few revs, you should feel the hose expand under your fingers.
At least it will indicate if you have some boost pressure.
Another sign of an air leak on the pressure side would be any whistle like air escaping.
Only do any testing if you feel safe to do so.![]()
The 5% seems to be constant on a run, we have some fairly step hills around here which is great for testing and i have driven it spirited in the testing, but that valve does not changeWhen throttle reads 5 % is that nearly fully open or nearly closed?
You are doing great ruling things out.
Yes I'm wondering if it is 5% open or 95 % openThe 5% seems to be constant on a run, we have some fairly step hills around here which is great for testing and i have driven it spirited in the testing, but that valve does not change
Good point, how can i check that? i'll do some digging, would that explain the lack of boost?Yes I'm wondering if it is 5% open or 95 % open
Unplug throttle valve when it's fully open test drive. Plug it back in after then delete fault codes caused by running disconnected.Good point, how can i check that? i'll do some digging, would that explain the lack of boost?
5% open, so virtually closed off
.
Test drive completed and drives same as before b
A small point, doesn't the throttle body have to be able to close when ignition switched off as a safety device when diesels choose to run on.![]()
My mistake, I was thinking it stopped a diesel from running away on engine oil etc.Hi,
The anti run on valve flap common on vag diesels is just to stop the engine rotating slightly more quickly than without valve-came about when people were switching from patrols to diesels and freaked out when diesel engine didn't stop making a noise immediately they key turned to stop.
Not fitted to trucks or heavy equipment.

One owner from new , who had done all his own servicing, it turned out he only topped up the oil, never changed it.!!!!
I removed the plug to the throttle body, but checked it was still in open position which it was. I also checked it was in the open position with plug connected and when idling it also remained open also.So we can keep track, what did you do/remove/disconnect before this test drive
