General Poly headlight trouble

Hi Guys
Recently got some polys woohoo!! The drivers side was no probs but the passenger side is strange. The sidelight only comes on when the dipped light is on but not on its own. I have a 96 Brava so have tapped into the grey and black live wire as joske's diagram said. Im lost!!

Just found a yellow and black wire. I know this is the correct wire for later models/year, but mines a 96 mk1. Strange. i'll try tomorrow.
