I have posted a few threads about this problem before but now i am banging my head hard...Ouch! I have changed, wishbones, drop links, brake pads and shoes, had tracking and balancing done but the problem is still there...When I am driving in 3,4 or 5th gear the car shakes...When I accelerate the whole car shakes even more?????? If I depress the clutch and free wheel, or take foot off the pedal, (in the mentioned gears)the car stops shaking and is as smooth as silk until I aply more power...This doesn't happen in 1st or 2nd and under 40 mph...Fiat coupe 16v nt....PLEASE HELP !!!:bang::bang::bang:

why dont u check your engine mounts engines twist on accerlartion and if the rubber has gone then engine is vibrating on the body of the car

only a thought

If u ve checked all these already , it might be the driveshafts m8...
All mounts have been checked and the n/s/f replaced. Not changed the o/s/f yet. The rear center mount looks worn (gearbox). I thought it could be the inlet manifold sensor as it only happens under acceleration? Could this sensor be overfueling the engine and couse a vibrating? Not sure. How would the driveshafts cause this? If I ease off the accelerater at any speed, it stops. If I depress the clutch at say 70mph it rolls really smooth? This is now driving me mad...

I dont think that its that hard to distinguish whether the vibration is coming from the suspension/chassis or from the engine.

If its coming from the suspension/chassis , that kind of vibrations are usually caused by worn driveshaft bearings..Its more likely to happen on lowered cars...I am not sure if its possible to buy just the bearings but usually the whole driveshafts are getting replaced on such a case..

Hope that helps.. ;)

I'd be looking at the inner CV's then driveshafts.
Thanks all for the information. A friend of mine suggested that the shaking problem could be the top engine mount (left hand side as you look under the bonnet) called a 'tortion reaction link' ??? any thoughts? He reckons that if the bushes wear on this link the engine can shudder and can cause problems with air intake and breaking...Thanks

After searching for answers I think I have solved the problem. I took off the throttle control valve and re-aligned it. It worked great, no more shaking at speed (well a little) but will need to tracked again. I also checked the recently fitted wish bones (which were loose) tightned them up and the whole car feels better. Off to motormech this week in Birmingham for a full check up (still running rich and not a good idle). Will keep you all posted...Thanks for all your info...

Just got back from Motormech and my coop is NOW perfect. Paul at the garage found that my o/s drive shaft was also to blame for the shaking and not just the throttle control valve. I drove it back from Birmingham to Luton today, it was a dream, if you ever need any work doing to your coop see Paul. If you need any contact details, just ask me. Had to wait a week for a slot but it's well worth the wait. Thanks for all your posts.
