Hi every one

Im new to the forum so please be gentle lol :)

I could do with some advice as im thinking of buying a Stilo JTD , its a 53 plate and it's a stunning 1 owner example with genuine 47000 miles , fsh etc.

My boss took it as a px , it has a problem though , the eml light is on and wont rev past 3000 rpm ,

I plugged it in to a code reader which had live data ect,
the car has no codes stored in ecu , so it has me puzzled . i did notice that it said
boost - no data !

Iv tried checking the air flow meter by unplugging it and its still the same .

Iv checked the inter-cooler pipes and all other little vacum pipes. nothing split or loose etc.

But today before i came away from work i did notice the big rubber pipe that is fitted between the air flow meter and fastens to the turbo , the side for afm had a jubilee clip securing it but the turbo side does not!

Could that be the problem? as i assume that one should fitted or the afm reading would be wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to read , and hope it makes sense lol. :)

hi, welcome to the club!

yes, the pipe from the I/C should be secure - check this for crack/splits etc as they are prone to rubbing in that area. Also, you need to check the boost solenoid valve, which is either located below the battery towards the front of the car - petty much underneath the headlamp OR its been re-sited to the side of the battery box - if this valve is stuck then that will cause the issues you have, though I am more suspicious that its a combination of issues and almost certainly a problem with the MAF and I would also consider the EGR is sticking.

Check the easy stuff first - boost valve, pipework and MAF- if you unplug it and it is still the same, then that suggests it is at fault.

Hi thanks for reply fella

its the pipe from the afm to the turbo , not the intercooler , its the same size pipe , could that be the prob as im getting no codes, even though the eml light is illuminated

thanks again fella

it could be yes, sorry I mis read your original post!

if there is air loss after the afm, then that will cause all sorts of issues - though I don't know what code reader you are using. Usually if the eml is lit, a corresponding message appears on the dash. Start and stop the car three times and see if the EML persists. Ideally, id hook up a laptop and ecuscan, but your issue may not be that complex. If the pipe to the turbo isn't tight, itll be sucking in engine air that hasn't been metered, and so the values will be incorrect, so fuelling will be wrong.

that said, when you unplugged the MAF, and the issue remained the same, that does suggest a MAF issue.

Thanks fella i will try when im back at work tomorrow. :)

Im hoping to solve the problem as its a cracking car bar the no boost issue .

I will message you with a update.

Thanks again

George
