I drove the car to the end of the road and it ran very rough under powered and lumpy, im no wear near a fiat dealers and can't get it plugged till next week. Does anyone have any ideas?? Also when I was driving with the problem all the instruments stopped working they are fine now but the other issues are still there. Thanks

Who did you buy it from? If it was a dealer, take it back and get them to fix it.
If it as private you should still talk to them before doing any work.
If you do want to start fault finding, first thing to look at is the "earth" cables between the battery negative, chassis and engine/gearbox. A quick check is to geat a pair of junmp leads connect one from battery negative to chassis and the other from battery negative to engine block.

I bought it at a auction it was a bit of a whim purchase as I'd not looked at it before but it seemed a good price and a very nice looking car.
So use both leads on the Batt neg one to chassis other to the block should this cure the stop start is its a faulty negative connection?

Thanks for reply

Yes both jump leads on negative. It is a quick and easy check for the corroded cables that are a well known issue on these cars.

Hi,
the array of warning lights just points to 12V supply issues,
but the lack of power is odd,

look here for pointers..;https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/318839-electrical-gremlin-thread.html

Thank you I have tried the above and no luck the car is now spluttering and giving white spoke from exhaust????

Is it still lumpy after you stop and start the engine again ?

Having some trouble with mine too... (Slow mod topic if you wanna have a look)

I may also have noticed some white smoke but unsure, might just be from the cold outside, and it didn't last. But no spluttering here, and after engine restart, it goes as if nothing is wrong

check the coolant levels - to rule out head gasket..,

so - what dash warning lights are showing when it's running..??

carefully check the function of all dash bulbs during the self-test,;)

When car running I have engine management light and the triangle one above.

Self test???
