I'm looking for some advice I have a Punto GT turbo and my cam belt broke a few weeks ago fortunately I had just come off a round about and was changing up into 3rd and so had my foot on the clutch or so I thought. :(
It has gone to a garage and I have had a new cam belt fitted but I have been told I have no compression on 2 and 3 cylinders. :(
The problem I now face is that to have 2 or 4 valves replaced (The garage have not seen what needs replacing as of yet) will set me back around £650. (This is allowing for me having 4 valves replaced and I know I can only get Fiat vales as I have look around for something better but found nothing as of yet.)
But I don't know if I should just have a performance head and cam fitted I have seen a Power zone add in Revs listing a complete head, cam, Head Gasket set, Stretch bolts for £630
I know it would be something I would most likely do to my car as it is standard at the present but I'm worried that it will not be worth my while doing this as I wont get a great gain in power for the money. But the other thing is it will only cost me £200 less to repair the damage I have already done by my broken cam belt.
So what I'm asking, is it a waste of my time or would it be as good a place as any for me to start in modifying my car?
Or should I just repair the damage I have done!
I'm not certain what to do and I don't wont to regret the path I take as it is going to cost me quite a lot ether way so any help you can give me would be well received.
And if anybody can advise me on any other companies that do head and cam kits like this could you let me know as I would like to get other prices to make shore I get a good deal.
Many thanks in advance :)
