There is a feature on modified cars on BBC 1's Inside out now. Some young guy on there bought a Vauxhall Corsa for £1200, then spent a further £20,000 'modifying' it to make it look like every other Chavved up piece of junk littering the streets/ Max (Chav) Power magazine! :eek:

I know some people like 'pimped' rides, but spending that much on a Corsa is :shakehead And throughout the feature there was no mention of anything being done to the engine. So it probably still has the 1.2 wheezy four pot under the bonnet then with a Max Chav air filter :tosser:

Oh, the guy is now 'unemployed' and having to dip into his 'savings' and 'family inheritance' to fund his 'hobby'. I guess that really means he's like all the other Chavs claiming every benefit under the sun, so the tax payer has now funded a pimped Corsa in West London...

£20,000! yikes!

when i had the uno and i wanted to do it out completely perfect i calculated it to cost about £10,000 but that included turbo conversion etc.

Marea is only getting a few thousand spent on it, but i expect that will actually be about £8,000 due to spraying and engine conversion.

20k on a corsa christ!, I've spent 3k on my GT so far, another 2-3k and it should be finished engine wise lol :O

you posted it was on now at 8.00 not 7.30 :confused: :p

It was on 'now' as in the 'now' when I was typing :rolleyes: Which being the last feature of the programme was at nearly 8pm :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I remember the guy quoting that the paint alone cost £3K, and the spraying cost £3K. The ICE install cost £3K, with another £3K for fitting. That's £12K for a paint job and stereo :nutter: Strange how everything cost £3K, the people that built it for him must have seen him coming.

He also had gullwing doors, and said the hinges cost £1200 :eek: Oh yes, the chrome 17" bling wheels cost £800. I stopped listening to what this guy had spent after that as it just seemed so excessive.

At the end of the day it was still a Corsa, no matter what he threw at it.

I must be getting so old as I really don't get this 'do up your car to show off the bling' mentality. At least not to the extent of spending £20K on a shopping trolley hatchback that is.

Just seems a shame that subtlety is all but forgotten and it's all about being brash and showing how much cash you've spent. Somehow taking it that far comes across as vulgar to me.

But different horses for different courses and all that. I'll go and crawl back under my shell and mourn the death of the British reserve and good taste :cry:

I guess they could argue that with the restrictive speed limits and so many cameras about, its not worth doing any work on the engine...

Ok, well actually they're probably not bright enough to think that. Keeping it looking pretty standard is where it's at. Nice subtle modifications, like different alloys, body-colouring the bump strips, handles etc.

all i can say is click my sig and join my friends and i in our fight agenst these idiots.

This bit on the site made me laugh :D

What is a ricer?

Well you've come to this page seeking information on what exactly a ricer maybe. Honestly its many things, it takes many differents shapes, sizes and forms to create a ricer. We have a typical ricer list, but being a ricer is dynamic, its always changing and there is no real way to define what exactly a ricer is. A ricer is different to everyone, you may think that stickers all over your ride isn't rice, but we do. We may not think that having big 22 in chrome rims is rice, but you may. And honestly we just think its dumb. Here is a small list of what it takes to be a typical ricer, dont forget that these people are forever changing their style, cause we'll it sucks.

* Does it have performance modification company stickers on it?
* Can you say "Type R" ?
* Those pretty little lights under your car? Rice.
* Painted rims.
* Overly large exhaust. Does it look like its something you could possibly fist ****?
* Does your mod list includes stereo equipment, shifter handle, MOMO steering wheel, PIA driving lights, exhaust tip, but no REAL engine parts? Then you're a ricer.
* If for whatever reason you have more then 1 set of fog lights.
* Claiming that the new intake filter just gave you more then 5HP
* Lean your seats back real far to drive, and have a visor turned sideways? You're a ricer!

dave we own more than just big trucks, most of us own more than 1 vehical, that big truck you see is just one member who loves to whore his ride. and 86uno. you have NO idea how many arguments we had to come up with that.
