heres my take on the focus...

Thought it was original, but seems a popular choice for this one!

Nice! (y) I like the airbrushing but I think the wheels need to be bigger.

I don't think there were too many options for this one joe, unless you completely change the car like Neo has...

I originaly tried an open door approach but found that the low angle made it a complete waste of time as the interior was too difficult to see and made it pointless.

One problem with everyone posting their pictures early, is that the later posters feel like they need to do something different, as they don't wanna be accused of copying or idea stealing, but when it's a car like this, there aint much you can do about it.

Looks very nice though Joe...

Neo, thats looking very nice too mate, easily your best yet and because of the drastic change you may be onto a winner there ;)

The voters normally seem rather opposed to changes this drastic, but hey, it's not about winning.

I just realised how little time I have and much there is left to do, so I have just rushed the rest of the kit on.

Good work everybody...I dislike those sort of mods though so will limit my comments.

However, I love the shape of yours neo, it looks like a real car design...

well this was my first attempt at doing this and its amazing how fast the time goes, a ford focus estate did not really inspire me lol soo i just had a play to se what i could do. i quiet liek parts of mine but i needed to start earlier than yesterday oh well enjoy it lol i was on my way to making a more meaty large off roader look. :D

deleete pic decied to add more lol

Not much progress for the past few hours, mainly working on areas where the light source was wrong, also put a new set of alloys on and made the rear arch slightly less extreme.

I need to get on with the paintwork really, as I managed to spend about two to three days on it last time and I probably don't want to leave it with a magic pink background. I'll probably take advantage of the fact that it is a fairly neutral colour to see if I can improve my version of the pearlescent look, unless something comes to mind.

OK, here's my first attempt at the pearlescent again, it's not too bad, but some of the colour transitions are a bit too harsh, I could sort it out with air brushing but that would affect the light as well.

yeah looking good so far, this is going to be interesting i have never been into modding cars in any way wth regards to looks and that is kinda showing in my focus off road thingy i came up with compared to others. soo hopefully i will get at least one vote:D can you vote for your self ???

it was fun doing it though and i will deffinalty have to enter the next one i use paintshop and not photoshop for my work i do have phto but never used it yet. anyway i noticed sometimes you have a great idea that has consequencies you dont think of. like when i changed shape of the rear side window. and then realised after i had done it that i had to change the shape of the rear side window on drivers side that you could see through the back window. doh anyways been fun i look forward to teh results and checking all teh entires out.

and if i dont get any votes i think i will resubmit all the entries to the "mums on the school run"forum :D should win hands down then lol

I managed to get no votes in the first of the recent challenges. I was quite gutted, but then I had only spent a couple of hours on it, which with my lack of natural ability is highly insufficient. The good thing is that I can see the improvement in everybody elses work, so hopefully mine is imporving as well or maybe we just each spend more time with each challenge, but when I look back at the earlier challenges, I thought my entries looked good at the time and now I think they look crap, so I guess things are moving the right way.

I had a look at the work on the digimods site after Joe mentioned it and it is, on the whole, excellent, definitely something to aspire to, although I have to say that I think we all do very well for creativity, we just need to perfect the finish.

:yeahthat: soooo true!, that can only mean that we're getting better though. I feel the same about all my chops.

I have found that i can do more work in the time now, the first merc challenge that i entered, i spent ages on. I'd say i spend about the same amount of time on each chop now. About 5-15hrs, but i am able to get much better results.

(y) ... it's not just because your new to this that you can overlook things like you mentioned... i done the same thing on the Smart challenge a few weeks back, and thankfully Neofolis noticed so i could change it in time...

I see on your signature that you play CS Source, are you a DoD player also ?
If not, then will you be playing it when they release DoD Source ?

I find with me a lot of the time is down to luck, sometimes I will change something and be happy with it straight away, on other occasions I will change it again and again until I am happy with the look.

Edit: If have found that the multiple attempts leads to improved techniqhues, so it should save time in the future, but particularly with shape changing their is a lot of trial and error.
