re plates

hi
I'm sorry to say this mate but you are going to waste money that can be used on other parts of your car....the number P111MBM will never and i repeat NEVER look like PLUMBM it's just all in your mind.
P111MBM looks like or reads like this PLUMBM???

Re: re plates

Saw my plate a while back and still available from DVLA. Unfortunately I would have to buy a newer car as well as the explenaive plate

Re: Re: re plates

Bravo-Bob if you haven't got anythin canstructive to say, keep it inside that little head of yours. It is me buying the No. plate not u,

People who know me will clearly c wat it is meant 2 say, I started out asking for some help on the matter as i am new to this situation, then u get some complete **** jumping on and slating ur ideas.

Its beginning to be a complete waste of time this forum, I know i hardly contribute but i am on here everyday reading other ppls posts and slowly learning bit by bit, but i'm starting to wonder whether it is worth it with ppl shooting down your ideas when it doesn't even concern them. I acknowledge there are a select few members who have helped me and others out but the majority seem to have followed into the OLD RR footsteps, to which i cannot be arsed with

BTW if u look at the pic i posted up a few posts i dont c it all that difficult to read, at least compared to some ive seen

Re: Re: Re: re plates

I'll second that Mike, too many people jumping on the "non constructive band wagon". I must admit, I am getting less and less tolerent of these type of mindless posts, unfortunately I can see these mindless idiots being the downfall of this forum.

Re: Re: Re: Re: re plates

Here, here. Thank you Wickford Jay, at least that rant wasn't a complete waste!

RE RE Plates

Dear Mike
In the first place if you don't want help DON'T come here asking for it and wasting everyones time.
Second when i said what i said i WAS being constructive in my advice..i repeat P111MBM will never look like PLUMBM.
Third people who know you will read P111MBM not what you would like them to read.
Fourth if you think this forum is becoming a waste of time ,then why the hack do you come here???
Fifth i have no intention of becoming an RR,in fact i was one of the guys that wanted mr RR out of this forum cos he was making a mess out of it.
Sixth it was never my intention of shuting my ideas to anyone, i was just passing a contructive advice. If you don't like it don't do it.It's your money you'r wasting after all.
Seventh i sayw your pics you posted and it still looks like P111MBM.

cheers BRAVO-RAY

Hi,

I have just purchased a new reg from the dvla. I think these are the best bet, because there are no hidden charges.

I paid 250 which included the transfer fee of £80, which is valid for 1 year i believe.

Other companies tend to add on a lot of charges such as vat, transfer, admin.

Buy it online and you get the documents in a week. Then I believe you take the form you received from the dvla (ownership form), mot, v5 and tax disc down to your local DVLA office.

Once they process your form , you have to change your plates immediatley( so keep em in the boot)

Also inform your insurance.

Hope this helps.

Re: RE RE Plates

Here we go...

1> I said i wanted help on the matter of purchasing the said number plate, not everyone's opinion on whether it looks as i intend it to as I have already disclosed the fact that it is the one I am going to buy.
2> Constructive would have been foryou to aide me in my problem, thus being informing me of the extra charges etc I would have paid, etc, not saying "It doesn't look like PLUMBM and it never will" This is sending the message across of a jealous child, as once again the plate is for me, it isn't doing any harm and the fact at what it is meant to say isn't up for debate.
3>The idea is individualism, obviously it will not say exactly as i want as there are rules and legislations in place that forbid such registrations, but it is as close as necessary, and i feel it is wuite clear in what is it to say.
4> I am not the only member of this forum that is saying it is sliding down a slippery slope heading for failure, due to the un-necessary comments some ppl make, like your previous one par example. As I did not start a verbal battle off, you simply and un necessarily retorted the fact that the plate will never resemble what i want *WHY?* I wasn't discussing that matter!!
5>Fair enough you were one of the ppl that wanted RR out, but for some un toward reason you have just started where RR left off, an leaving non needed comments on my post, starting this little tit-for-tat we got going.
6>IMO as well as other ppl who have purchased private Regs, it is not a waste of money, i will be doing this, as i way of individualising my car. Isnt it just as much of a waste in; adding alloys, Bodykits, Neons, Gear lever/handbrake replacements, mats, sunstrips... I could go on all day, as at the end of it, none of these mod's add any extra value on to our cars.

So why do we do this???

Ans. INDIVIDUALISM. Same for my number plate, See a pattern emerging??

I hope you read this thoroughly and see the point I am making!!

re re plates and my last one

Dear Mike

1)i was trying to help you not to waste money but you don't want to hear.
2)i'm not from england so i don't know your prices.
3)Here where i live you can buy a plate in any letter/numbers you want for 700 of your pounds. So you can actualy do PLUMBM as it is.
4)You can expect comments that you don't like when you post on this forum.it's a free world mr Mike.
5)If you say i am trying to take RR place i'm sorry to say that you have not seen HIS post on this forum.
6)The difference between number plates and bodykits is that at least bodykits LOOK like bodykits and not what someone wants them to look like eg.number plates
7)I see the point you are making.....THAT OF NEVER ANSWERING YOUR POSTS.
cheers BRAVO-RAY

Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

Bravo-Raymond...

What i have stated is that, even though a bodykit looks like a bodykit, it is still a waste of money unless u plan on keeping ur car till it is past dead and heat the metal up and produce bean tins to sell them on, as a kit on a car as all other mods, decreases the value of ur car, but at the end of the day, once i have bought this plate it is mine. and i can swap it over to another car as i please, obviously with a charge, but it isn't lowering the value.

All i can say regarding ur ignorance to my replies is re-evaluate what I have said and i think you will find I have a valid response to each of your queeries.

Danke shon

Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

@ Nicola.

You mentioned the transfer fee of 80GBP valid for a year, does this mean you have to re-new the fee after every year, or just that you have a year to transfer your new plates over else you would have to pay another 80GBP.

Thanks

Mike

re re re re re re re re re PLATES

Go and buy them then ,i can't care less.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

The £80 transfer fee is a one off fee that applies when the plate is transferred for use on a vehicle.
You can purchase a plate and not use it on a vehicle, in this case the fee is then called a retention fee and this has to be paid annually, or maybe bi-annually, can't remember off the top of my head.

You can transfer the plate to another vehicle as long as it is not making the vehicle newer, then you have to pay another transfer fee.

Wimmy, you could buy your plate and keep it on retention till you get a car of the correct vintage ;)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

The W1MMY plate is being sold at around the 3K mark, unless winning the lottery in the forseen future I can't see many plates being bought at that price!!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

Nicola, just bought my reg from Dvla too.£250 all in. upto £150 diference between their price and other site's. Just come back from my local dvla govt centre in Nottingham.Got my new tax disc, Now just waiting for my number plates to arrive. Soon as they are on the car (hopefully 2morrow) Got to inform insurance and then the job's complete. From buying the registration to recieving the certificate of ownership took just 2 day's.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

Glad yours was done quickly. I bought my plate in November, then lost the form.

Then rang to find out opening times of my local branch, which is Bristol, who are open 9 - 5 mon - fri.

Of course I'm at work at that time so I will have to book a half day holiday or pull a sickie to change my plates.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

Nicola, Bit of advice DON'T go around midday. You get every man and his dog in there. The place was heaving when I left the office at Nottingham.I was only at the desk for 5 min's too, yet i sat waiting for nearly an hour cause there was only 2 people working instead of 5

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help

Hi, trying my best not to get involved in the argueing i will ignore it :)

i am getting my dad a personal licence plate for his 50th which is in may, i have already spoken to the DVLA and they are brilliant £250 which includes all fees and they are dead helpfull

my ideal number plate is D8 AHN for D Bahn :) which i think looks good, i like personal licence plates because it hides the age of the car very well and as long as you keep your car tidy and clean it always looks new :)

good luck to you mate i like your plate and you are right there are far worse things to spend your money on your car

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Personalised Plate help
