I did my pass plus in Feb and only just come around to ringing my insurance to try and put it on. The guy told me it only applies when your starting a new policy. I dont see how that works because you do your pass plus once you have passed your driving test, which means you have most probably bought a car and got an insurance policy before you do your pass plus.

yer mate, alot of insurance companies take the same approach which is such a con when you think about it. you then call them when your policy renews and they say "we only consider pass plus in your first year"

on the other hand, my mate was insured with tesco on his 1.4 golf, did his pass plus and called them and they refunded £400!

What insurance company are you with? Why you taken so long to tell them?

I can under stand why they've done this. Alot of companies give you similar price to one years NCB. Now you can't introduce NCB half way through a policy can you

Looks like your pass plus is only going to have given you driving experience, and no financial gain now (n) Hay ho.

Im with norwich union, apparently pass plus gives up to 30% discount. I was just lazy and couldnt be bothered ringing to explain to some foreign guy that i wanted to add a pass plus! lol

some companies differ with pass plus... it can be quite strange.

i saved about £250/300ish with CIS insurance which was a saving overall of £100/150 when you take my pass plus costs into account... still 3 or 4 tanks of fuel in my corsa :D

My insurers don't give any discount at all for pass plus, as they say there's not enough evidence that it makes people safer drivers :(

Wonder if I'll be staying with them after I renew in Oct....

I think not.....

when i took my test, must be 8-9 years back now, i took pass pluss straight after my test, before i even bought my first car. Best deal i managed to get was only equal to the price i spent on the pass plus in the first place.

I think its better to gain some driving experience and then take an advanced drivers course, that will save you money with most insurers and unlike pass plus is useful long after your 1st year driving.

Pass Plus was great for me...saved £350/£400 on my first year...and its been cheaper ever since. Didn't cost me anything either...so win win.

Can understand why they wont change it now...and if you've had it that long, you cant complain.
