How does it work? I do not have one fitted. Does it have an audio warning or does it have a visual warning too? if you have a picture or anything similar of this equipement please email it to me at
[email protected]

Is it of any use? does it actually help you park the car?
I am thinking about fitting one. It is just over 150 euros. If it's worth installing it, I think I'll do it. But i need to get some feedback on that.
Please let me know.

Thanks.:)

There are 4 little sensors incorporated into the rear bumper and they give an audible beep when you are within approx 150 cm of an object to the rear and 60 cm to the rear side. It starts as an intermittant beep and when you are within 30 cm it is a continuous sound. I got it as part of a comfort pack, it is a useful aid in tight spaces,i suppose it depends on how good or bad the person is at parking. :)

Hope this helps

Can it be switched on and off? does it connect to the speakers or it is a seperate unit that bleeps? where is it placed in the interior? Can someone adjust the range that it starts producing continuous sound? For examle i might want it to start beeping continuous when I reach 5 cm from and obstacle. Can you do that?
Questions, oh so many questions!!:I

Dont think you can switch it off. The sound of the bleep doesnt come from the speakers i think it comes from a sound source some where in the dash it sounds a bit like a warning if you have left your headlight on ( allthough the stilo does not do this). it doesnt say in the hand book that you can adjust the range. It is quiet useful in tight spots.

Hope this helps.

it does. Thanks. I think I am goin to install it no matter what! It is bloody difficult to get a parking space where I work and anything would hepl when coming to reverse against another car in a very tight space!!

thanx!

I have parking sensors and they are more useful than I thought. I thought on such a small car (I used to have a Jag) that it was just a gimmick. They are very good. They guide you in to about 6 inches. They even detect if someone runs or walks behind your car while reversing. ;)

I don't know if I would have paid extra though.....[?]

How much is 150 Euros? (my sensors are standard fit on an Abarth)

Have just had it fitted to my Stillo MW.
It is two sensors mounted on the bumper.
They are transducers and work on the ultrasonic sound principle.
They unit fits in the access hole on one of the sides in the boot.
You can remove the unit to ajust it as it is fitted on velcro.
You can ajust the range to the obstacle.
When selecting reverse it beeps and beeps intermitantly and gets more rapid as you approach the obstacle until it sounds continuosly at the range you have set it at.

It appears to have its own speaker.

150 euros is about 95 quid.
The unit you installed seems to match my criteria. Is it the Fiat standard or another make?

I have an Abarth which comes with the standard Fiat unit. Works very well but as the Stilo isn't a big car I wouldn't have paid extra for it. Still, £100's not a bad price.

Let us know if you go for it.

Something you probably take for granted but I think is great :D When you get the continous beep telling you to stop reversing, it leaves you with just enough room to get the boot open!! (works every time for me)

I am having problems wit my parking sensors.

Whenever the weather gets warm they fail. Overnight once it has cooled it is ok again.

The dealer has replaced all the sensors with no improvement. He is going to fax Fiat now.

Is anyone else getting this?

Thanks

I've had no problems with my sensors at all. Even when the temperature was 41.5 degrees (according to the car - it was really "ONLY" 36-37!) the sensors worked fine....

....although at this point I may be tempting fate and should shut up!

Maybe barking up the wrong tree here but... woodward could the problems with the parking sensor be something to do with the cleaning product you use on them???

Maybe when the product gets hot, it may change properties and affect the operation of the sensors. Right I think I've lost myself with that one so I'll shut up [V]

I thought it was the cleaning product as well so I didn't wash the car after they replaced them and it only took a few weeks to fail! [V]

I'll wash the car this weekend now. It needs it.
