Finally I had the new mount fitted, the exhaust had dropped onto the ARB so was getting very annoying.
The mechanic was telling me the mount was ok and the exhaust was to blame, in the end I told him to fit it anyway. He did and it lifted the exhaust clear no more rattling - from the front anyway!

He then turned his attention to the battery light, diagnosing a faulty alternator (which was refurbed by the previous owner) as it was "overcharging the battery with 15amps". I'm sceptical about his view on this, after the "your mount is fine" conversation. He tested the battery and that was giving out 11v which he said was probably being killed by the alternator being faulty. I have no starting or electrical issues so is he just trying to get work? This isn't my regular garage btw.

I never got to the bottom of the battery light, I can't get my oversized hands anywhere in the engine bay is my excuse...

Anyway the day before cinqy was due to be picked up by it's new keeper it decided to spring an oil leak, luckily it was only the filter rusted through.

A quick filter change at the old local garage and top up of the liquid gold and it's running sweet, though I did get another filter for a proper oil change soon, lets just say more like liquid soot...

The new owner Lucyloo1 is more than pleased with her runabout.

A quick face off of old and new :

Amazing how little difference in size there is, apart from the cinq has lots more interior space for the driver!

Lucyloo1 brought to my attention that the gear change is getting stiff and difficult to engage unless the vehicle is moving. It's certainly worse than when I used the car as my daily. Any suggestions on what might be causing it - I'm sure it had a new clutch with the last owner though.

Also I have bought service items to change the oil, plugs, leads, filters but just realised I don't have a sump key - what size do I need - anyone local got one I can borrow?

So lucy dosnt like a stiff knob ? while changing gear?

Steady - that's my mother your talking about!

After being her passenger today I think the problem is exacerbated by her driving style - riding the clutch and constantly changing gears up at low revs and down when coming to a halt.

After I critiqued her style  I offered to have a local garage look at it - I've no idea who's any good around here so I just picked the nearest to me.;)

Worst it can be is £200 for a new clutch fitted and it will be worth that to stop all the little comments about it.

I still need a hand with the servicing though Eklipze3k :D

Well bad news about poor little cinqy, after fitting a better battery in it on tuesday some scrotum brained lowlife scum broke into the car - wrecking the door lock - stripped the wires out of the dash in an effort to hot wire it.
They weren't able to start it so just left it unable to start with the key and unable to be locked up safely.

I had a brilliant test drive after fitting the new battery and had plans to retake ownership in the future.

Instead the car is being taken away to be "repaired" more likely written off though.

At least Lucyloo1 had a free courtesy car for 21 days on her policy and won't be carless.

I'm planning to give her the Alessi when the new car comes - now the hunt is on to find some off street parking.

Well it's a write off. Too much hassle to buy back for spares ( had planned to use the engine in a panda) and no space to safely store it.

I and Lucyloo1 had nearly a years motoring out of it for very little trouble until the local knob heads took a liking to it.

Anyway, mum's getting an upgrade from N reg to 56 plate and 2 extra doors with my old Panda Alessi.
