Hi Guys
Joined FF just recently, have seen that some of you here are still quite fanatical about the Panda classic as you call it here.
I used to own a '89 Panda 1000 F.I.R.E in fire engine red right up till 2001 when it started to let me down :bang: I did own that car for 10 years and it more or less did me proud at the time. Anyways one of the reasons for posting the pics was to show you what my motor looked like as I had modified the wheels for alloys which was risque and recieved mixed reactions at the time because it's bigger brother Uno was the modifiers choice so why would you stick nice alloys on a Panda when only Pug 205's,Ecorts, Fiesta's and Golf's were the main modifiers choice at the time?....
Why the hell not? I thought, So I did, and general feedback at the time ('93) was good because there was nothing like it to my knowledge at the time.
Since there were virtually no mods or a decent body kit for Panda I left it at the wheels. However around late 90's SEAT motor company produced a concept version of their FAKE PANDA the Marbella with 'Porsche technology' :yuck:
They cut the back half of the Panda's shell but retained the back seats and the hatch had been replaced by a tailgate door with spare tyre attatched and roll bar attatched on the back half of the vehicle where the roof mian beam used to sit (very much in the Suzuki mk1 Jeep style).
You would think that this would destroy the image of their fake Panda, but with the colour coded alloy wheels, side skirts they designed and the sports style deep rounded colour coded bumbers that you would have found on the 16v Fiesta's of that era coloured in an eye blistering yellow, you know what....
It was f***in cool! :slayer:
If I find the picture of this concept Marbella I will post it on this forum, and believe me it would defintately make you think about the possibilities. I think Fiat lost out to SEAT on that one and could have really reaped some profits if they took that concept further and produced a road going version!
Sadly the vehicle nor that body kit were made available, but all in all I don't think my tough lookin little Panda looked bad without the kit anyway?
What do you current classic owners think? Let me know!
