General Panda-monium!

General Panda-monium!

well i do intend to create panda-monium, first try was identical to phil thompson's beast but in petrol blue and only 75bhp
see my sig....
next version. Hmm.....
List of bits i have:
2.0 20v from coupe
eaton m45
fiat panda K plate
i think it will fit although the wheels will need spacing out to clear the gearbox that is now further into the wheel arch area....

If your version of Panda-monium becomes a reality what speed do yo think you will get out of it? I assume it's going to be faster than that 0-62 for the new Panda Sports (20 secs) right?.

Also what do you think the max speed would be? In my old Panda unmoded best I got was 95-100 and the 0-60 was 14 secs (with those wheels and a bottle of polyteraflurerethylene or Slick 50 to those that may think I may have joined Harry Potters gang creating unpronouncable magic incantations with that word albeit a bit of a mouthful!)

Good luck with that one! (y)

I saw this in another thread but thought it was a typo. The new Panda 100hp gets to 60 in 10 seconds tops I'm sure. The 4x4 is down for a 20sec dash to 60 but most owners agree it's a conservative figure.

Do you think though if it has an ECU and it was re-mapped, it may quicken the little fella more? Would be interesting to find out.... In a Punto mk2 HGT average 0-60 is around 8.2 secs so in theory this new Panda Sport should be lickin the ass off the Punto as its a mite bit smaller or maybe it's the aeoro dynamics of it?.
I am in agreement with you guys though, somethin ain't right!

Yep. But bear in mind Fiat have reliability and fuel economy to consider...

The Punto HGT has a 1.8 litre ~130bhp engine. The Panda has a 1.4 litre engine with ~100bhp. An extra second or so sounds about right to me...

Whoa, easy Petebarchetta! that's like sayin you've got one extra nad! Any takers on that one???

Heard Elle Mc Phearson has taken one (car that is :D ), let's hope her buying one does'nt turn it from a mean machine to a 'Chic' machine :yuck: Also i haven't seen it yet but apparently Bond drives one in Casino Royale, t or f ?

without lowering the tone.... thats an area even gina wont see:D haha

i just love the 5 cylinder engine naturally aspirated the off beat warble makes it stand out from the crowd even at idle
the whine of the supercharger with a straight cut gearbox......Man thats gonna be tasty (turbocharging it would be easy, there is more of an art to supercharging)
i know i will upset the panda purists by embarking on this mission, but all i have ever owned myself is panda's old and new. Just love the car.........:)

the only problem i am gong to have is getting the traction......150bhp N/A in a 600kg shell makes 250bhp/tonne
"bring out the M45!,Igor!!.........we have work to do:D :D
it'll either blow up or be a damn fast car

with the car being front wheel drive you are going to have to fit tyres so wide that you won't be able to steer.

who said anything about putting it in the front??
there is more room in the back!!
spaceframe tubular chassis!!
started building it already!
nice veiw of the tarmac from insde the car;)

i'd fill that front bit with lead bricks if i were you :)

Erm, Petebarchetta... it seems someone already beat you to it mate:eek: . If you check on the e-bay website at the moment you will see a Panda 'Turbo' or what I call a 'Franken-Panda', for sale from a bloke called 'cibbyoung' or something like that. Well he has basically got hold of an ESCORT COSORTH ENGINE and lumped it in the back of this Panda giving him what he boasts as 160hp. Incase you can't be asked to go and have a look i have borrowed said piccies from e-bay and posted them here (not the same way I did before with my own motors pics you will be pleased to hear :D ). I think personally it could do with having the wheel arches smoothing out and a bloody good paint job, cos at the moment it I think looks :yuck:, resembles something taken out of a Mad Max movie or something or a mini-me De Lorean from Back To The Future!

Anyways, it seems someone has taken all the hard work out for you!, it's currently on bids of £850.00  .

As they say miricales can happen at Christmas, guess yours came a few years early!!! (y)

Further to my original post a few weeks ago, have managed to find SEAT's fake Panda called 'Marbella Playa' and through the power of technology that is Photoshop I have remodelled the front of my old Panda based on the bits that I had wanted to nick from the SEAT jobbie but were never made available.

Also I made an error, the Concept Marbella came out in '92 not '98 as I had thought. (Damn my dementia!). Maybe if Fiat had explored this avenue, who knows, we may have had a Panda Sporting a good few years earlier ?....:slayer:
More Panda stuff I will post as and when I spot them.
