General Panda instrument lights coming on

Thanks to all those who gave me advice on the locked front wheel.
re-bled it a few times, and now it works.
The wonders of Italian engineering.

Just about to re-book the Mot when I noticed that when I switch the side and headlamps on, the fuel and temperature guage pointers shoot up, and dash lights for Main beam, HRW etc, come on feintly. If I switch on indicators or hazards as well, they slow down at an alarming rate. Turn off the light switch , and everything returns to normal!
When I tried the lights Sunday, everything was ok, except one dipped bulb needed replacing.

Any ideas on what it may be ?

My mother is still hoping for another years use from her Panda.

It's the earthing points, not sure what age your panda is but if you have the hedgehogs on the inner front wings it's them (have a search for hedgehogs as there will be pics available), if you don't have them it will more than likely be the earth strap from the battery to the body or the body to the engine.
