Good day All,
I am halfway through replacing the gearbox bearings in a 4x4 model, it has occurred to me that I have not removed an engine undertray.
Please will someone kindly tell me, should this model a 2014 with the 0.9l TwinAir engine have an undertray (I bought it used with the usual gearbox fault)?

My 2015 TA 4x4 looks like it had an undertray at some point but it's long gone now. At £240 for a replacement, I can live without it.

What gearbox fault do you have?

All 4x4s should have a hefty metal sump guard/undertray. Ideally they get removed at each oil change to access the sump drain. They are prone to rusting, and if not routinely removed, the mounting bolts tend to rust and snap too. Couple of previous threads here show what you’re missing (and may well be at the bottom of the page under ‘similar threads’)

The input shaft ball bearings cage has broken up!
I got less than 1/2 a litre of oil from the box, so no surprise then, sad thing is she got charged £140 for gearbox/diff oils around 25,000 miles ago, so much for professional garages!!!
They also charged her for 4 spark plugs!!!
I have written to the last owner telling her to find another garage.
This reminds me of a Mini Cooper I used to service in the 1970's after the owner got sick and tired of her 'garage', for half a dozen services they had been charging for gearbox oil!

You are quite correct, I can see snapped off bolts in place, why people don't dip them in grease before refitting, having said that this has been commercial garage serviced all it's life, so no real surprise!
