Technical Engine Cover Removal

I wouldn’t worry too much. These covers are there to reduce noise emissions. It’s interesting to note that (as an example) Ford stopped fitting them to the Focus after about 2018 (even though the supports etc are all still there) as a combined cost and weight saving exercise. Won’t cause any harm if loose, or removed.

Ah ha - might well be the airbox!! I just saw ‘cover’ in the text. Clearly yes, the airbox is needed. (Mines a diesel so looks rather different)

But, on my (now sold) Volvo v50 and the Landy I have, it’s just an engine cover to reduce ‘clatter’

What would you call it if I was searching for it online? I’ve not heard the cover rattle, is it doing any damage?
