General Panda boot strap/handle - MIA

I went to shut my boot last night using the piece of fabric normally located on the inside of the tailgate however it wasn't there. It wasn't in my boot either so it must have fallen off yesterday.

Does anyone A) know the correct name of the thing I'm on about B) know the part number C) know of a decent alternative? I've seen a leather one on Italian ebay but I'm not paying £25 and I've seen one someone made with some PVC pipe which wasn't really my style.

Your options of course range from a piece of hairy string, through to the leather deluxe version. Almost anything would do, your imagination is the only limiting factor.

Alternatively, I think I have found it on ePer, section 70148, page 3 of 4. Part 735398150 about £6. Seems quite reasonable.

I bought one of those leather ones off eBay, didn't pay that much though. The quality is really good though. Looks really nice with the red logo.

Was the 'low cost strap' a later variation? My 2005 4x4 has two strong plastic handles moulded into the rigid lining of the tailgate, as seen in the first couple of photos here: https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-guides/229226-how-remove-replace-electric-tailgate-handle.html

Coo, look at them, they're posh. My early 2006 Alessi has the cheap strap, which I think is in keeping with the functional nature of the car. Makes me smile every time I use it.

Ah, but the strap prevents the dirtying of fingers or leaving of finger marks on the outside.
Can also bop you on the head if you don't step back. Or worse, bop your partner if you don't check she's stepped away.

I think I'm going to make my own strap out of some red strapping I have. I opened my girlfriend's 2004 Panda Dynamic before and saw that she has a plastic boot back with TWO plastic handles molded into it! Wtf! Why does the 100hp not have that?

I imagine the original Pandas had the moulded handles, but within a year or so Fiat had cheapened it significantly with the fibre liner and simple strap. As the 100hp was a later addition, it would only ever have had the strap.
