General  Panda 4x4

I've had mudflaps on mine for a little while now. Makes no end of difference to the amount of crap sticking to the back. Just some cheap ones from Ebay until FIAT decide to bring out the proper ones.

Also gave it a wax last week.

some colours here I saw this morning.

Sweet Candy Beige. I like this colour, but think it looks better on the indoor showroom model than in the daylight on the demo car.

Infatuation Purple

I also notice that peaceful white is now called Ambient white
Unsure if this is a slightly different shade or just a name change.

BTW, if anyone is looking for a 4x4 in a hurry, Griffin Mill have various models in stock ready to go, and the 12 plate TA demo is up for sale too

I do like the sweet candy beige. I think seeing the beige on the 500 changed my opinion of it and that video fiat did of the trekking flying into a parking stop.

My mate put me off it when he saw one with me and without prompting said get look a car in chewing gum colour :-(

I've order an orange touch up paint today and a couple of parcel shelf strings from the lifting parcel shelf to see if I can add them to my shelf.

Definite lack of 4x4 updates on here deeyup ;-)

Back on colours I saw the dark metallic blue on a transporter and it looked very smart.

Has anyone actually fitted a towbar yet ? I know someone has a car on order with it as an option on here.

Westfalia do have part numbers for both swan neck and detachable tow bars, but it does say on their web site price tba.

I may call a towbar place tomorrow and see if it is available yet.
I am put off a bit though as the dedicated electric kit requires drilling of a 39mm hole into the boot for the wires to pass through.
Why can't manufacturers make it a little easier??

Love the shot of Infatuation Purple! On the Forum, I think dansdan has got that colour?

IMO it's much more like the colour that everyone thought Chillout Purple would be like on the 500 instead of that dark, dark purple (which incidentally I like as well, but would defo have been peeved ordering it on the basis of the promo stuff that came out).

Even now on the FIAT 500 configurator, it shows Chillout Purple to be much lighter than it actually is!

Interesting. Will follow their thoughts on it. If I take the plunge on one still swithering between the engines.

Do you go for the economy of the diesel and lose 6th gear

Or

Do you go for the performance of the TA knowing that petrol is nearly 10p a litre cheaper than diesel so it doesn't have to be as economical.

Ultimately any car I buy needs reasonable 50mph pick up for safe Rural overtaking. The TA I took a test drive in 'felt' like it had the shove as long as you knew the gearing (torque band narrower than a TD), but I wasn't actually overtaking anything to know for sure and may well have just been revelling in the noise!

Happy to hear the thoughts of you early adopters!!

Well I bought the TA engine because its £1500 cheaper and your in a lower Road Tax bracket If you drive it carefully you can get up to 50 mpg the average over 2000 miles for me is 37.5 mpg but on longer trips I can get 40-45 mpg ,also because its 875cc you pay lower insurance ,also you get 10bhp more power ,I'm happy with mine I hope you decide to get one ,there is the Trreking version of the Panda which is 2 wheel drive so has better on fuel and is up to £2000 cheaper

Had my Trekking for just over a week now so only 220 miles on clock so far.

Very happy with it - currently says I'm getting 47.5mpg which is about 10mpg more than my old Punto. Most driving is to/from work on town roads and a bit of dual-carriageway.

My cricket gear and football gear fit snugly in the boot (not both at same time!) as well as my musical instrument.

Noticed the back boot sill gets mucky quickly.

And......
If your stuck behind granny doing 50mph on the rural B-Road and you see a straight can you simply drop a cog and say goodbye?

Or do you have to know the road like the back of your hand and prep two corners in advance so you're starting the manouvere almost before you exit the last corner onto the straight?

I currently drive a 2.0TD and life is pretty effortless for the first option. Now I accept a Panda wouldn't be as fast overall, but, the 50mph overtake is a key factor round here unless you like driving like (or constantly behind) a pensioner!!

The twin air is great in your 50mph scenario. There's plenty of grunt, 4th or 5th would be fine.
Take both motors out for a drive and see. The twin air is much more fun and a fair bit quicker.
Mpg wise, the multijet would be my choice. fun and performance = TA.
