You now need the comparison with a non 4 seat one in the max rear passenger space I guess ?

The helpful 4x4 members will help out I'm sure :)

Great stuff thanks Philboo! So yes if some helpful 4x4 owner (or maybe even regular panda owner) out there can get us a comparision then we can be pretty sure!

Look at that posh boot liner of yours deeyup, so jealous, can't have that with the sliding rear seat it says :-(

What's the rear passenger seat space deeyup ? I'm interested now (sad aren't we lol )

Didn't check that. I'll go and have a look.

Ok , done that. I didn't take any pics though.
With the front seat fully forward with the back rest at a regular angle to be comfortable on the measurement was 30cm. That was with the tape following the angel of the rear seat base.

Remember I've not got the folding passenger seat so you will have leg room robbed from the rear with the plastic passenger seat back.

Had update from the garage today and my Trekking has now slipped a week with expected delivery around 12th June which is a little disappointing. :(

Well I think deeyup has answered this fully with me. It looks like my rear passenger could get about 3 or 4cm more rear seat room if you had the smallest boot position for the sliding seats and the passenger seat fully forward. But I think deeyup makes a good point that I also lose space having the plastic tray on the rear of the passenger seat.

On a slightly different note but something that was mentioned. I don't have five or six positions of tilt for the rear seat positions. More like slightly inclined or upright. After that I think it's just fully flat forward.

Hope this has all helped.

Phil

Great work guys, it's only a minor difference, but it's the difference between my knees touching the dashboard or not when I'm in the passenger seat and my daughter is in the back (going by the test drive). I will be ordering the sliding rear seat, I didn't know it had 2 seatback positions too, that is a bonus. I can't believe fiat sales can't answer this basic stuff and we have to go on these crazy missions instead. You rock (y)

Are you getting the passenger seat folding table?

Yes I will be, hmm, I wonder why a 8cm loss of boot space only equates to 3cm extra legroom in the back.. Is this just down to the back rest position, or does the seat depth/seat back dept differ, I wonder.

Just out of interest. When you ordered the car how long did they say?
My dealer said that they used to say 4 weeks but could never meet that so now they guarantied delivery within 12 weeks.

Sorry for replying late- my experience was much as yours... I ordered from Hartwells Abingdon on 24th
January and was initially told I'd have it by Easter. But have seen only 'slippage' since then, and
have never had any positive information, even since abandoning the 4-seat sliding option!

A question for Philboo: When did you order your Panda?

Hi Chris

My car was ordered from Blackburn motor park about the 17th December 2012.

I don't know where the 8cm difference is. Without having the cars next to each other and having the back rest positions identical then taking the plastic on the back of the passenger seat into account its awkward.

I did think is should have maybe done this behind the drivers seat which I assume doesn't have the plastic backing. I haven't really looked a it.

Re your last point here, that's very true. My solution was to simply take the plastic table off;)

Not the prettiest solution at all, but I've never ever found the need to use the table part (only the folding function instead), and it is not comfortable if your knees are up against it.

Obviously you could get some seat back protectors (as suggested by Dangerinleyland in another thread) and then it'll cover up the gaping hole in the back of the seat!!(y)

Okay on re-reading through I think I've got it.

Deeyup doesn't have the plastic backing so is maybe already around 3cm better off for legroom vs Philboo.

The means we should add 3cm to Philboo's measurement of 33cm to give us 36cm.

36cm vs 30cm is more like what we would expect given the internal boot depth measurment.

I'm now assured that my Trekking Twinair has been built with the sliding
rear seat, as originally ordered (y)

But I'm not sure if I'll get the folding passenger seat, as I'd not specced
the 4-seat Flex Pack, but separate options (several of which are part of
that pack- so they may have just fitted all of it...)

It's now expected at Hartwells sometime next week, but I won't
believe that until I see it 'in the metal'

Thanks to all here who've explained and photo'd everything so well :)

Moultoneer - When did your car turn to status 20 (built)?
My garage does not want to even estimate when my 4x4 will be delivered to the UK!

In general though - Panda Mk4 fans - what is the range of elapsed time folk are seeing between status 20 and the car being at their UK dealer?

thanks in advance...:)

I'll check my old emails now.

OK, done that.
On the 25th Feb my car was status 20, and on 7th March it was on UK soil (status 40).
I was driving it home on the 14th March (status big smiley face)
