Re the strings - does your car have the attachment points on the tail gate to take the strings?

Yes it does. And little rubber clips and the shelf underneath.

Wife safely returned with little green diesel. This is standard spec and does not have the net pockets but does have the string attached to the tail gate, so raises when boot opens. Not of interest so much to us as dogs will be in boot.
Looks good parked next to my Discovery - Little and Large!

I takes yours is a five seater or did you go for the 50:50 rear seats?

5 seater (pretty small peps!)? It has the single bench seat that does not move at all

Finally took a photo at home on the drive....in the evening sun on Sunday evening. I actually really like the look of it with the gravel...not very off road though still

These two pictures illustrate why I think the rear seats may go further back in 50:50 cars compared to the five seater. Of course, one is a graphic and the other a photo, so not exactly scientific, so until someone measures up, we won't know for sure...

(Ignore this bit as only theory for now: so, if it turns out that the 4-seater has a shallower parcel shelf, this may in turn explain why they don't fit the strings, as I guess using the same strings could pull the shelf out of its hinge at the end of travel - a problem that you would not get with a deeper shelf. Of course this could be sorted by different attachment points etc etc...)

Sorry 4x4panda I misunderstood when you'd said 'shallower'. I thought you'd meant the depth of the lip on the shelf. If it wasn't very deep the. Maybe they couldn't fit the grommets.

I realise you mean the length of it from front to back. Obvious really.

I'll measure it up.

Hi philboo. No problem - my explanation was not very clear; I decided the shelf had width, depth and thickness! Anyhow, I'm hoping all this leads to discovering there is perhaps more legroom in the 50:50 cars? My lads always moan about lack of legroom and tbh, I don't need the boot space.

Anyhow, I guess we will also need deeyup or someone to measure their 5-seater as well...

Really great colour Phil! It suits the cheeky nature of the Panda really well, I think you have made a great choice.

Also - thanks to 4x4Panda for attaching the pic of the sliding rear seat when pushed forward. That really does add a nice extra amount of boot space.

So, I have now measured the boot cover - picture attached. In the exact middle it is 34 mm across, as you can see it is recessed at this point.

I just figured it that you could still have a shallower shelf but the strings would need to be longer
also with your sliding seat shelf might be smaller to allow the seat to slide back as well as forwards

looking at the pics now I don,t think they can go backwards only forwards to allow for bigger boot space

It is a bit of an illusion, it certainly is bigger than the Clio parked next to them. I have parked them lined up to the front bumper, the Panda only goes so far back down the Disco!
But I was surprised how large it appeared next to its big brother.

Ok, sorry been at work all day. I've taken a few photos (some show the position I have measured) and others are a measurement close-up. It's not 34 cm though so that answers that question. It's 28cm at the edges as you can see and about 24cm in the centre. I've also done a close up of the plastic moulding to the side so anyone interested can compare that section.
