Fiat call it City Brake Control on their UK website - it's meant to brake automatically if you are about to hit something at speeds of less than 30kph. Meant to, but I saw a Volvo demonstration of something similar - good viewing but it didn't work!! :D

Don't know where the phrase city stop came from - it confused me too for a minute. It's Start & Stop and I can confirm that is definitely on the t/a 4x4 as I drove it yesterday.

Ah yes the Volvo one which someone forgot to activate before hand. Lol.

I think city brake is a stupid name IMO. Emergency coliseum avoidance or something with a much more serious name would be better suited for a system which is for emergency use only and not something to be relied upon.

:yeahthat:

This is how not to do it - also why it shouldn't be relied on! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Has anyone noticed that if you pick the diesel version on the Configurator you get the option to have the city stop option but not for the twin air. I can't believe the twin air can't have that.

Is that a mistake ? any dealer able to check ?

Phil

Yes I meant 'city brake' (certainly didn't mean start/stop which has obviously been standard for ages on the 1.2 and twinair 500) so I understand how someone thought it would affect the tax band.

For £250 I think it's a cheap option given my girlfriend crashed into someone at a junction when she thought they'd moved off and they hadn't. £1200 to repair so I could easily pay for itself. Also from what I've read the say NCAP won't give five stars for safety in 2013/14 without it to try and encourage manufacturers to add it as a standard feature not just an option (as they've done with ESP or whatever it's called these days).

Fiat call it City Brake Control on their UK website....

And we are people who care, imagine what the casual car researcher must think!

Why couldn't they just have left it at "Low Speed Collision Mitigation" system, then... (as in their Panda press release -- see my post above...)? It does exactly what it says on the can. (And not all low-speed shunts are in the city, are they...?) :bang:

I wonder how happy Fiat would be to see the demo model being off loaded so soon?

To be fair, it does have extras such as the space saver spare and split rear seats on the demo car but it's a bit poor they obviously just want to make a quick buck.

Well I just got a settlement on my 500. I owe £10k.
I see that motorpoint have dozens of 500 twinair plus at the moment either £9799 or £9999, same 12 reg as mine, similar miles.
This puts me out of the running to get a Panda as I'm not paying to get out of it.

I do wonder if the 500 bubble has finally burst now? I think 3 year old examples are still fetching good money, but nearly new stuff has to compete against Fiats fantastic finance deals on new ones.

Hi More fool you "Well I just got a settlement on my 500. I owe £10k."

I still owe sod all and my car cost £2,600. Tip do not buy until you have saved the money up first.

Keeping up with the Welsh Jone's cost loads of money.

Believe me taking out finance will result in you paying more than you need too every time.

Nice post there Hollis! Way to insult someone needlessly!

we bought our 500 on finance, but it's now paid for and will be with us for years and years.

Yes I have to agree, a some what uncalled for comment that, everyone is entitled to spend his/her money as they require or take out finance as they see fit.

I don't want to get drawn into a debate about it. Just doesn't feel like the type of response you'd expect on a fiat forum, maybe moneysaving website but not here.

On a more positive note I've ordered a 4x4 after some helpful advice from here.

Not sure I'm doing the right think but I've gone for the orange in and out. It was that or silver (arctic grey?!?) and my head said silver my heart said orange. Still time to change it if everyone says I'm mad.

So difficult to make the choice with only photos online and a white one in the flesh. I could have any other car in silver but I wouldn't go for orange one but on the 4x4 it just seems to go with the slightly more fun image.

Agreed - uncalled for comment above. Lets keep things friendly.

Philboo - nice move! Which options have you gone for?

Go with your heart the orange does stand out nicely.

It can carry orange. Small cars need to be bright and dreary silver is the most dismal car colour and must be avoided at all costs. I saw an Up in silver yesterday and it looked more nonedescript than ever. I'd have gone for the white, because it looks good in white and white saves a lot of money that can be spent on extras.

In the unlikely - impossible? - event that you get stuck in the snow, the orange will be so easy for the helicopter to find. While the white ....

I think you're right to go for the more interesting colour.

I think orange is the right choice too, for what it's worth...!

The first Mk4 Panda I saw up close, in the flesh, out in the wild, was silver/grey: and is probably the worst colour for it. It somehow suits the more 'stand-out' colours... -- if that makes any sense; and I think will look great with the orange seats...! (y)

Agreed. As someone who ran out of fuel on a snowy day in a white 500 I can say that a bright colour is a bonus!
