I was charged £40 for labour
Ok. It is a quick thing , usually labour is 60 pounds 1 h.

I am thinking to change springs and all 4 shock absorbers. Since they have to get the shock absorbers loose anyway for spring replacement.

I will leave the back sping since they are ok.

I think it will be max 2 h labor for front shock absorbers front springs and back shock absorbers

If I remember it was £50 if your car is a 4x4 the front springs are 410mm in length

No disrespect to Autodoc and others, but they don't always get it right, and then posts on forums like this spread non quite correct info, citing AutoDoc as if it's gospel.

Thanks.

I want to buy from shop4parts .

Unfortunately the magnetimarelli shock absorbers are not all in stock.

One is in stock but not the other one.

I do not remember if left or right.

Even the rear ones are out of stock.

I contacted the costumer service to understand when they will be in stock again.

The rear one that shop4parts has is the same magnetimarelli part that other spare Internet site has.

If the will not get in stock in time I will buy from them.

I am sure because I asked shop4parts the original magnetimrelli product code and compare it with other Internet site.

This are the shock absorbers from magnetimarelli :

Left Hand - 357145070200

Right Hand - 357145070100

Rears - 351997070000

I addtion :

Do you know a good garage near Manchester?

I live near Manchester (15-20 miles ) but I do not mind to go around to find a good garage for fiat

Just had my local garage change the front shock and spring because I couldn't get it off myself. The top nut hand been rounded off and the alley key in the top of the shock had been rounded too - I assume by the previous owner. Both very rusty. Would have been an easy 20 minute job for me on the drive but for that. Garage had to weld a nut on top of the shock to get the thread going. Less than an hour labour, all in £60 (I supplied the parts).
Rear shock replacement is really only a 20 minute job for both - assuming nothing is rusted solid.
I think it was me who had the last shock from shop4part!!

I have been in a fiat dealership,

for 29 pounds they did a check.

they checked the springs and coils and other things (multicheck).

they found that the coils and shock absorbers are original. they said that probably tehy lost part of "force" due ageing.

They said that this is not a problem if the car is not giving me issues.

They quote for 500/600 pounds to replace coils and shocks and bearings (to change all basically) comprensive of labour.

they quote for aftermaterket spare part, they said that they replace aftermaket in very old cars like mine 2014.

shoks KYB
coills springs skf probably (I do not remember)
Bearing KILEN

I can spend the same amount to change all 4 shock absorbers and front coils springs (magneti marelli) if I buy from shop4parts , the only thing is that I cannot find a garage that does the job.

all mechanics if they hear fiat the try to hide. (please is you know a garage that could do that near south of manchester let me know )

(the only reason why I could go with fiat fixing is because I can spread the cost in 6 or 9 payments with no interest)

I did a wheels allignemtn and balance to all 4 wheels.

they found out that the camper angel si negative about 1.6 and 1.3 in the sides. that probably due to the coil springs and shocks being lower that normal.

the mechanic at the tire shop lifted a bit the side and show me that the camper was getting better due to the car being low at the front.

I think I will wait for the work.

anyway I think that a camper a bit "negative" does a good job handling wise in cornering better.???

That seems a bit expensive given the aftermarket parts.
I'm sure there must be an independent garage with a realistic hourly rate near you or even a mobile mechanic (but get recommendations if poss)... keep looking. Make sure they will use parts supplied by you thought.

I had ATS do a wheel alignment after I got my front spring and shock changed, it was well out. They charged me £42 but I can take it in again within 3 months for a free alignment. The alignment was nearly as much as my garage charged me for fitting the spring and shock!

thank you for all you said and for the help.

I finally found a garage that will fit the part when I will buy it.

he told me that he does not know what it will be necessary to replace until he disassable the part.

can you please let me know what part I have to replace?

I know about coil springs and shock absorbers.

the shop4parts custumer service quote for this part :

please see the picture.

I would like to replace everything (front bushes , bearings , mounts, new bolts and nuts , ) do you suggest doing it?

Is there anything I will have to replace even in the outside (like mount in the outside : the things we can see when we remove the plastic under the wipers arms?

can you please make a list of the item I have to purchase.

I thought if the garage start doing the job and after need to order other stuff I will pay more for the labor and keep the car in the garage.

thank you in advance.

Thanks.

Did you change the top stuts mount as well?
Top mount changed, spring, shock and drop link. Old shock was fine but garage had to hack it up to get it off otherwise I would have done it on my drive. My garage charged me £100 but that also included removing, fitting and balancing a new tyre. I supplied all the bits.
Also, he just reused the old dust cover and bump stop rubber from the old shock.

I will post something very soon that will make the life much easier to everyone with 1.3 diesel 4x4 75 ho

Thanks for your support I finally finished all the work . Thanks you for the review and feedback about shop4parts.

I replaced rear coil springs + shock absorbers + plastic rings + bump stop ( basically everything) in Feb 24.

In Oct 24 I replaced all the parts for front shock absorbers + coils + black cover and polyurethane bump stop) everything

See the result in the picture.

Plus tyre replacement, I decided to go for continental all season .

Thanks again.

Another question.

I do not know if it is tire garages that mystery have old pressure gauges. When they gave me the car back from the tire shop they inflated the front to 2.5 bars while the fiat ownership manual say ( for 15 inch 175/65 front to 2.2 bar and rear 2.1 bar ( for diesel) . Some times tire garages inflate mine at 2.4 all the tires .

The owner manula states that full load must be 2.5 but I never drive full load . But mostly on my own.

Do you inflate the tires following owner manual indication or did you find a better balance with other pressure?
