Panda Panda 100HP project (cooperman style!)

Introduction

Right thought I would start a thread as there are a few mods happening to my panda and wanted somewhere to have them all in one place! I have owned my 100HP since 2010 and love it! She gets serviced at fiat evry year and had belts and water pump replaced last year. I wanted to start modding her but not go OTT as been there and done it before! Hopefully you guys like it!

Really happy with the way the car is coming on! The rear end is looking nice and fat, will be looking at getting a silver rear fog light bulb to balance up the lights and looking at spacers the same as Demi has to fill the arches a bit more. All 4 tyres will be getting replaced also for Toyo T1R's as got some cheap front tyres put at the mo and had enough of them!! Lesson learnt!
If I may offer conclusive evidence that yellow film on your headlamps is NOT illegal.

The current MOT manual does NOT present any Reason for Rejection regarding headlamps that relates to the application of any colour changing devices.

Just to add further fuel to the fire, just because its not an MOT failure doesn't mean its not illegal ;)

Retrofitted HIDs are a prime example.

There is no further Legislation that prevents the use of a tinting film to change the colour of the lamp to yellow.

legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/schedule/4/made

The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulation 1989 - Schedule 4 - Part 1 - Requirement relating to obligatory dipped beam headlamps.

7. Colour - White or Yellow

I've used Lamin-X for at least 5 years on headlights and never had problems with MoT or the old bill; the Panda has a "light tint".

I did try it on my Alfa's fog light but the film was destroyed due to excessive heat.

Apologies for the dirty car but I Fitted a bonnet bra today, it didn't cost me to much as it was second hand but seems to really suit the look! (y)

Another little job done today and I added a little carbon winglet to give the pandavan a double diffuser, it uses the 2 ribs in the lower section of the orginal bumper to mount to.
Didn't want to go ott I just wanted something that looked like the factory might of done it.
Happy with the look! (y)

Discreet I suppose. I'd probably be more impressed if it made a noise or you could stream coloured vapour from it, like the Red Arrows.

Thought I would give an update, I have had a great few months in the
Pandavan as you can see the yellow front lights have been dropped and I've gone abit more for a stock look
Autoitalia was great as always and he had a clean bill of health with a service and MOT at fiat CROYDON who I have to add had some of the best customer service I have experienced in ages at a dealer. All the team were asking questions about the panda and they all loved him!
No massive mods planned the front tyres will need replacing soon so might look at what my options are. :slayer:

Had a play around today and 'sticker bombed' the inside of the fuel flap, I know its one of those styling fades that in 6 months time will look pants (remember 3 spoke wheels!!) but I think it looks alright! something a bit different!

I know this is a very old post, but it got me inspired. First attempt, may need a redo.

Dead right, but LEDs are also technically illegal as are flashing red LEDs on bicycles. What really matters is how much dazzle the lights cause. Some cheap HID bulbs are downright dangerous for dazzle and put less light on the road than the original halogens. A good HID however will provide better lighting and not spoil the light's focus.

High colour temperatures are sold on lumens output but their useful lights again is limited. 4,500K to 5000K gives a crisp light without the giveaway blue tint.

So I've now passed 6 years of panda ownership and I'll tell you something, this is one of the best little cars I've owned!
I drive 40 miles a day in London and he always puts a smile on my face!
The wheels are still looking amazing and gleaming like a diamond in a goats ass and the bucket seats are the best mod I've done and add to the theatre of the drive.
Plans for this year are belts/water pump due for a change, maybe new wheels but I love the bbs style so much but alway like the Ronals!

Hi there cooperman...

I used to read your thread before buying the car. I thank you for your passion and your feedback, you will not believe but you helped me in the final choice and now I have a 100HP.

Please update the thread with some actual pictures and tell us if in the meantime you did some new mods. By the way for the wheels I will love to see on your car the BBS Michael Schumacher Edition obviously painted white.

THANK YOU MATE

It's the strangest thing, I've owned dozens of different cars but my 100hp is the only car I can't imagine not owning.

Barry you have done so much for the movement thank you. These things, you either get them (have driven one) or you don't.
