Recently purchased a red 1993 Panda Fizz 1.0 Fire engine(posted on Forum classifieds). 1 Lady owner, 32000 miles, garaged with no rust problems, what a beauty:D. This must be the start of my mid life crisis as a Panda was my first car back in my student days.:slayer:
The car has the twin coil distributor with no sign of Vaccum Adv/retard unit. Had a look in the supplement section of my Haynes manual. It talks about 15 degrees BTDC +or- 2 degrees with vaccum pipe connected and 2 degrees BTDC +or- 2 degrees dis-connected and plugged.
This is a bit of a head scratcher! Is the Adv/ret electronic on this model:confused:? and are these stats still correct for setting up the timing.:bang:
Help please!

Phil

There is no vac advance/retard on the Marelli SPI models, it is done by the ECU.

The timing data is for the earlier models.

Thanks for the info. Is there no timing adjustment necessary? is the distributor mount one fixed position?

No adjustment necessary or possible even for that matter. No distributor as all electronically controlled by the ECU as mentioned by Petel.

Welcome to the modern age of fuel injection engined motoring. lol.

Minimal maintenance it maybe, this does not however, mean that the plugs and plug leads can be ignored.
Rgds.
